The traditional organization of work and workers is rapidly
becoming outdated. We're transitioning to a new work system
where tasks and projects are assigned to not only employees
but also machines and contingent workers. Workers will be
valued for their skills rather than specific roles, a shift
accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic, emphasizing the need
for organizational agility. Leaders must adapt to this new
approach, focusing on task completion rather than job
structures, orchestrating diverse resources, and embracing a
less hierarchical relationship with talent.
