6: Keeping It Going: Moving Beyond Survival Mode
“Have faith in Jesus Christ—not in the courts, and most certainly not in Man.Try reading Psalm 23 today.”
“Hear this promise from God’s Word: ‘Be strong and cou- rageous. Do not be afraid or terrified of your enemies, for the Lord your God goes with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you’ (Deuteronomy 31:6).”
“With all humility: Son, if you don’t change, your out- date will.”
“Put your mind on God and watch how the sentence won’t affect you at all.”
“Now would be the time to consider why you are here. Where did you go wrong? Where are you going on this journey called life? And most importantly, who are you going to allow to be your teacher now? Who is going to be that influence in your life? Who can straighten out this mess you have made of our life? And who can make your wrongs right and put you back on that narrow path? I know from personal experience that if you seek God’s guidance you’ll find that he will lead you to himself.” “Pray, son! And look at this as an adventure, as a learning opportunity (like college). Learn how not to waste your time. This, too, is a part of your life. Remember that the Bible is evidence that God has a heart for the prisoner: Joseph, Moses, John, Peter, Paul, and even Jesus were imprisoned. And Jesus served the death penalty for us all. Make the most of your time by learning: first, who you are, then who you were, and then who you want to be.”
