Spiritual Survival for Prison and Beyond - Second Edition

Spiritual Survival Guide

2: Read This If You’re Confused About Faith

Every time you patiently help a skeptic to slowly trust in God, and open up to other people—you change the world. Every time you write home and help nurture faith in your kids, and they blossom to be the people God destined them to be—you change a life and you change the world. Every time you challenge men in here to be more generous, Every time you befriend a lonely person, Every time you act like part of a community of second-chance people, Every time you help a celly endure his depression with courage, Every time you help someone face his sentence with dignity and hope, God’s amazing grace flows, lives are changed, the world is changed, and the kingdom of Jesus Christ advances. Every time.

Think About It. Talk About It.

1. Have you ever felt pressured by someone else to believe? What happened? How did you react?

2. Are you the kind of person who needs a radical faith intervention (a spiri- tual kick in the rear end) in order to come to faith? Why is that? 3. Or are you the kind of person who needs time to experience and process things before you can have faith? What made you that way, do you think? 4. Do you want to spend the next few years just doing your sentence, or do you want a chance to get busy changing the world while you’re still inside?
