The Best Lessons Along the Trail

SHARING SOME OF HAWAII’S HIKING GEMS

People say the best view comes after the hardest climb, and how true this is! My family and I love hiking — it’s an activity we all can enjoy together while taking in some of the world’s most beautiful sights. Hiking is a beautiful metaphor for life, and we can take in so many life lessons through hiking. • Don’t quit because you’re tired. The key to success is to persevere and be resilient. When life knocks you down, be sure to get back up, and when you’re exhausted and running out of fuel, it’s not time to quit, but rather to recharge. • Give yourself
• Take the time to turn around and appreciate how far you’ve come. Appreciation is paramount. Don’t forget to celebrate your wins and soak in your success! • Don’t compare yourself to others. Many people will ascend faster than you, and that’s okay! You are running your own race. • Just keep going. Whether your feet hurt, your heart is pounding, and you still have hours left to go, press on even if you’re hot, sweaty, and spent! The reward at the top is worth it all.
Here are some of my family’s favorite hikes in Hawaii along with details about each!

Lanikai Pillbox The trail is short, steep, and often breezy. It features
incredible 360-degree views from Mauka to Makai! We love doing this hike at midday, when the sun is high, because it really showcases the turquoise blue waters of Lanikai beach and those picturesque Mokes.

Aiea Loop Trail This shaded forest hike is a 4.8-mile loop. It’s well-maintained and gorgeous.

with renovating my entire condo in Kapolei. Once the remodel was done, it was fully staged throughout with furniture to really make it shine. The final result was a sales price of $30K above what we were expecting and my walking away with more money than I could have imagined. The best part was that I didn’t have to pay for any of the repairs out of pocket. They arranged for all contractors to be paid at closing from my sales proceeds. If you are thinking of selling your home in Hawaii, call them, and I guarantee you will not be disappointed!”
Pink Pillbox Pink Pillbox is great for sunsets and whale watching. Throughout the hike, you’ll be in full sun, so it’s hot during midday. The pillbox is painted pink for breast cancer awareness. Manoa Falls This hike is lush and tropical! Depending on the season, the falls may be a trickle or may be gushing. Kaena Point With a breathtaking and open coastline, Kaena Point is relatively flat. You’ll be in full sun, but it’s a great place to spot endangered monk seals and albatross birds from a distance. Best Paved Hikes The three we’ve done are Makapu’u Lighthouse, Old Pali Road, and Waimea Valley. -Sachi Mitchell

SALES PRICES DIP AS BY MORE T
O’ahu’s real estate market started the year in a downward trend with closed sales of both single-family homes and condos declining significantly compared to the previous year. Single-family homes saw a drop of 54%, while condos declined by 50.2%. This resulted in a 7.6% decrease in the median sales price of single-family homes, which hit $970,000 in January. This marks the end of 17 consecutive months of single-family home prices exceeding $1 million. The median sales price of condos also saw a dip, falling 2.9% to $495,000.
SINGLE-FAMI MARKET
Jason and the kids at Kaena Point
The decrease in median sales price is due to the impact of costlier financing on the market, which is causing some downward pressure on prices. Sellers are having to adjust as buyer demand weakens due to elevated interest rates. Properties are taking longer to sell, with a median of 24 days on the market, compared to just 12 days for single-family homes and 14 days for condos last year. The number of new listings has also slowed, down 16.3% for single-family homes and 21.5% for condos. Despite this, the active inventory in the market continues to grow, with a 77.2% increase in the single-family home market and 23.7% in the condo market compared to 2022.

communicated and kept us in the loop every step of the way. Sachi has an eye for design and staging, along with superb interpersonal skills. Jason is not only professional and proficient, but he really knows the business side of real estate as well! We fully entrusted them with the advice they gave us in order to receive top dollar on the sale of our home to the extent that they exceeded our expectations with $185,000 over the asking price. We never would’ve imagined Jason’s superior negotiation skills would’ve landed us beyond top dollar on the sale of our home! They coordinated so many aspects and took the stress off of us when we already had so many moving pieces to deal with. Additionally, they have an excellent team to assist them with the additional home repairs that needed to be completed along the way prior to the sale at a very reasonable price. If I could give anyone advice who chooses to work with Jason and Sachi, it would be to put 100% of your trust in them. They will not disappoint! Thank you both! You exemplify excellence!”

4 Make Your Own Foaming Hand and Dish Soap!
CREATE YOUR OWN WITH JUST 3 INGREDIENTS INSTEAD OF PURCHASING FOAMING SOAPS
We’ve all seen the foaming hand and dish soaps at our local supermarkets — some of you may have one by your sink or in a cabinet. But when you run out of soap, what do you do? Do you throw out the bottle and purchase a new one? Or do you buy a new bottle and attach it to the dispenser? Buying soap replacements all the time is costly, but you can save money and soap by creating your own foaming dish and hand soap! You only need three things: a foaming dispenser, liquid soap, and water.
And that’s it! You just created foaming hand or dish soap in seconds. You don’t need to add lots of liquid soap to your concoction. If you look at foaming soaps in the supermarket, you will notice they are mostly water. So, less is more in this instance.
Once you begin making these, you’ll notice you use less soap, making the product last longer and keeping more money in your pocket.
Not only does this foaming method work for hand and dish soaps, but you can also make your shampoo, body wash, and other cleansers foam — it’s all about the dispenser. If you decide to convert other products, avoid creamy soaps because they have moisturizers that can clog the foaming dispenser. Once you start making your own foaming soap, you will never go back to purchasing it. This DIY method is easy, quick, and inexpensive. Happy cleaning!
Is making your own foaming soap that easy?
Yes! The entire process may take you only five minutes to complete. The most important item you need is a foam dispenser. You can reuse a foaming soap container or purchase one online. After rinsing your bottle, add one part liquid soap and three parts water. Avoid shaking the bottle after screwing the cap back on. The suds and bubbles in the container will affect the dispenser and produce less foam when you pump the device.
