What’s it worth?
DUNVEGAN | Everyone has something at home that makes themwonder,“What’s it worth?” It could be that washstand that was al- ready in the house when you moved in. Or that vintage costume jewelry your grand- mother left you. How about granddad’s medals from The Great War? Or that paint- ing that’s been on the wall forever? The an- swers are waiting for you at the Glengarry Pioneer Museum’s Appraisal and Collector’s Day Sunday, July 21 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Dunvegan. Appraisers with expertise in areas such as books, Canadiana, china, art, and furniture will assess the approximate value of up to three items that visitors bring to the Glengarry Pioneer Museum at a charge of $5.00 per item. Admission to themuseum is free. All appraisals from local experts are verbal and on a first-come-first- served basis. During the day, there will also be a silent auction of antiques and collect- ibles. Auction items include an early 20 th century dining room table, silver water pitcher, earthenware “bean pots,” Depres- sion glass oil lamp, and china, to name a few. After making a bid on the silent auc- tion treasures, visitors can wander through up to 20 different private collectors and an- tique dealers who will be displaying their prized collections. If that’s not enough, antique car buffs will enjoy a parade of col- lectible cars from across the region.
Nina Baker of Rigaud is working at the Musée Vankleek Hill Muse- um this summer. Through funding provided by the federal Canada Summer Jobs programme andVankleek Hill & District Historical So- ciety, Baker will spend 10 weeks developing policies, and working with the collections.
