verses in your Bible twice. The first time, think of things that King Solomon did that remind you of each verse. The second time, think of the Lord Jesus and recall a story about Him that re minds you of each verse. If people, nations, rulers, and govern ments today had a desire to do God’s will, there would be justice, freedom, and happiness for all. Following the will of God always brings great blessing whether to a nation, a family, or to just one person who loves Him. As you learn your memory verse to day, recall verses one and two of this same psalm. Soon you will be able to say the first five verses of this Festival Song from God’s Word. as (4) judge, w . 5, 6 ; and (5) in the final consummation, v. 7. No psalm is more used in the New Testament than this. We find our Lord using this psalm to silence His enemies in Matthew 22: 41-45. After His enemies had responded to the question of Jesus, “What think ye of Christ? whose son is he?” by say ing “ The son of David,” He asked them another question that they could not answer. After referring to Psalm 110:1, Jesus said, “ If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?” (v. 45). The only answer is that Jesus is both Son of Man and Son of God. As Son of Man He is David’s Son, but as the Son of God He was David’s Lord. It is always possible in the psalms to find a passage to sub stantiate any phase of the Lord’s life. The Third Example Psa. 118:22,23 It is not known who wrote this psalm or when or upon what occasion. How ever, after entreating others to unite in praise, the writer speaks of God’s pro tecting and delivering care towards him, and then represents himself and God’s people as entering the sanctuary and uniting in praise and in prayer for con tinual blessing. Much of it points toward Him who is the head of the church. This is the sixth and last of the Hallel psalms which were sung at the annual Jewish festivals. Many think this was the “hymn” sung on the night of Christ’s betrayal (Matt. 26:30). Christ used the matter of the “refused” stone (v. 22) to apply to His situation (Matt. 21:42). Helps for the Children Jesus and the Psalms Psa. 103:8-13 Memory Verse: “Seek the Lord, and his strength: seek his face evermore” (Psa.' 105:4). The Lord Jesus Christ frequently re peated verses from the book of Psalms, the songbook of the Bible people. One day the Saviour told a story in which the father reminds us of God, our Heavenly Father, as He is described in Psalm 103:8-13. The story that our

Memory Verse: “Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the Lord” (Psa. 105:3). One of the psalms about which we have been studying was written for King Solomon, the wisest of all men. This king saw some of the needs of his people, asked God’s guidance, followed God’s way, and brought happiness and justice to his people. This psalm is more than a psalm for Solomon. It also describes the Lord Jesus Christ, the King of kings. Read the

The book of Psalms is quoted more often in the New Testament than any other Old Testament book. This book was more often on the lips of our Lord than any other book. All through His earthly experience, He relied upon its message. When He was hanging upon the Cross, it was the subject of His meditation, and with the words of a psalm He dismissed His spirit. Three examples have been selected for this week’s lesson to show the use Jesus made of the psalms during His life on earth. From them let us see how we also may use this book in our lives. The First Example Psa. 8:2 Psalm eight has been called an enve lope psalm because the first and last verses are exactly the same and enclose, or envelop the truth that lies between. Jehovah’s excellencies in nature and man are set forth. Evidently, the Spirit of God had in mind primarily God’s repre sentative man, the Lord Jesus Christ, as He speaks of man and his position in the world. A comparison with Hebrews 2:5-10 and First Corinthians 15:25-28 establishes this. But it is verse 2 with which our lesson deals. The thought is that God’s perfec tions are so manifest that even babes can set forth His praise. That is, those who are very young are able to appre ciate God’s wonders. And we know that little ones are able to love Jesus. They often give a faithful testimony when the enemies of God scoff. Jesus applied this verse to the occasion on the first Palm Sunday when the chief priests and scribes were sore displeased be cause the children sang His praises (Matt. 21: 15, 16). The Lord must be praised. If men will not do it, children will. The Second Example Psa. 110:1 This psalm is definite in its presenta tion of Christ. He is shown to be pre eminent in ( 1) station, v. 1 ; as (2) a | deliverer, vv. 2, 3; as (3) a priest, v. 4;
