BANK ON BRAUNS What Does It Mean to Be Dependable?

A few months ago, we launched our new slogan. You might have seen our billboard around the city or ads online calling for clients to “Bank on Brauns.” We’re having a lot of fun with the word “bank.” The visual ads usually play around with the look of money, referencing our reputation for getting clients big settlements. But Bank on Brauns has another meaning. It’s about being dependable, a promise to our clients that Brauns has their backs. I know what it feels like to put your faith in someone who isn’t the most reliable. I love my dad, but when I was growing up, he was a workaholic. There were many times when he promised to take me to a game and told me to be ready at a certain time but didn’t follow through because he got busy at work. As an adult, I know he was working hard to take care of the family, but as a kid, that kind of thing breaks your heart. I don’t ever want someone who’s relying on me to feel that way. I’ll admit, there are times when I get busy at the office and I don’t get home until late, but when I promise my family I’m going to be somewhere, then I’m there. that means at our firm, we do what we say we’ll do when we say we’ll do it. We don’t ignore phone calls in order to avoid having a difficult conversation with clients. We’re available to answer questions, help wherever we can, and put our injured clients at ease. Dependable isn’t just a word; it’s a promise. That same promise extends to our clients. When I promise to be dependable,

clients take care of their cars after an accident. A lot of people don’t realize that the car is a separate legal area altogether. Lawyers can’t make a fee off damaged cars, so they usually tell their clients to handle that themselves and insist “It’s easy.” No part of law is ever easy. Being dependable means we need to do everything under the sun to make things right after a car accident. Because the car is often such a big area of stress for our already stressed out clients, we don’t hesitate to step in and help out there, too. The money from big settlements is great, but money comes later. Being dependable is our main focus, first and foremost. A law firm should be true to its word. We take great pride in always being there for our clients, through good, old fashioned customer service. -David Brauns

“Dependable isn’t just a word; it’s a promise.”

A lot of our clients are recovering from car accidents, and I’ve found that a lot of our clients are more stressed out about losing their car than they are about being hurt. It makes sense. Public transportation in Atlanta isn’t great, and without a working car, our clients might not be able to get to work, buy groceries, or pick up their kids after school.

One thing we do that’s different from other personal injury firms is help our

The Best Opening Days in Baseball History Peanuts and Cracker Jacks

Lou, Combs, and Babe — Oh My! Considered one of the best teams in baseball history, the 1927 New York Yankees started their historic run and 25th season by dismantling the Philadelphia Athletics with a score of 8–3. The slugfest was true to form for the 1927 Yankees, whose players would go on to make up baseball’s famous “Murderers’ Row.” With sluggers like Lou Gehrig, Earle Combs, Babe Ruth, Mark Koenig, Bob Meusel, and Tony Lazzeri, it’s no wonder this team went on to win its fifth championship that year. The Hammer Ties Bambino For decades, no one could match George Herman Ruth. The Great Bambino’s all-time home run record seemed like an impossible feat of strength — that is, until Henry “Hammerin’ Hank” Aaron came along. On opening day, April 4, 1974, Aaron smashed his 714th homer, tying Babe Ruth for the most home runs ever hit and extending the Atlanta Braves’ shutout lead over the Cincinnati Reds. A few weeks later, Aaron surpassed Ruth’s record, prompting a standing ovation from the crowd.

Baseball’s opening day has been an American holiday of sorts since the Cincinnati Red Stockings threw out the first major league pitch in 1869. To celebrate the start of the 150th season of professional

baseball, here are three of the best opening days in baseball history.

A New Beginning On April 15, 1947, an opening-day game changed the course of Major League Baseball. On this day, Jackie Robinson started for the Brooklyn Dodgers, becoming the first African-American player to start for a major league baseball team. Robinson’s historic showing was lackluster, going 0-for-3 at the plate and making a solid showing on the infield at first base, but his mere presence in a Dodgers uniform had already broken history. Despite his nationally-recognized skills — Robinson was named MVP of the MLB farm team league in 1946 — the backlash that followed his rise to the pros, both from fans and teammates, was palpable. Still, as well-known sportscaster Howard Cosell said, “Suddenly, it was a new beginning.”

Testimonials DON’T JUST TAKE OUR WORD FOR IT

“I was involved in a not-at-fault, head- on collision in October 2016 and nearly lost my life. My entire life flipped upside down, and out of all the difficult situations I was facing with rehabilitation and job loss, the legalities and insurance communications was the least bit stressful, thanks to my hiring Mr. David Brauns to represent me. From the first call to the last handshake, he was a blessing from above. Very professional — he understood that I had a lot of healing to do and as I write this review.” –Anonymous

“The staff at Brauns Law helped me get through a very trying time following my accident. They followed up with me after appointments and called to see how I was doing. I appreciate David Braun and his staff’s work on my behalf.” –Brenda

Do You Trust Your Body Shop?

The Body Shop Checklist

Following a collision, you take your vehicle to a body shop. You want to get your ride back to the way it was — or as close as possible. You may look up reviews online or ask friends, family, or colleagues for suggestions on where to take your car. Several days to a few weeks later, you get the call: Your car is ready! You head down to the body shop and get ready to leave with your restored ride. But hold on — don’t leave just yet! Before you leave the shop, you must do a complete walk-around with a technician. You want to make sure the work is up to your expectations.

Inside the vehicle, double-check the following: • Parking sensors and camera function

First and foremost, your vehicle should look clean at a glance. It should be washed and vacuumed. For the rest, it’s time to take a closer look. Telltale signs of shoddy repair include gaps between panels (misalignment) and poor color matching (it might not be a 100 percent match, but it should be very close). Here’s a checklist of what you need to look for during your walk-around:

• Seat belt locking mechanism • Working lights (inside and out)

WORD SEARCH April If you check one or more of these off, it’s a sign of subpar work. The body specialists may be cutting corners. This can have serious consequences when you get back on the road with your vehicle. If there are issues, they need to be addressed. Speak with the shop’s manager or owner. If they’re reputable, they’ll fix the issue. Plus, trustworthy body shops generally offer warranties on their work. You should drive away as a happy customer.

Walk to Work Today!

Walk to Work Day

people, businesses, and organizations across the world to inspire people everywhere to exercise more.

Observing the Holiday To celebrate Walk to Work Day, simply slip on your walking shoes, grab a portable breakfast, and head out the door! Be sure to bring an extra outfit and shoes with you as walking in high heels, dress shoes, and/or dress attire can be uncomfortable. For people who don’t have the time, try taking a short walk around the workplace during breaks or lunch. Getting in a 15-minute walk during the day will help you feel more refreshed and ready to get back into the grind. You can also invite other coworkers or friends to walk with you. Other Modes of Transportation Although Walk to Work Day encourages people to walk, there are other ways to get to work without having to drive. Biking is an excellent means of transportation and can be helpful for people who might have a longer commute. If you don’t own a bike but are still in need of a quick transport between two locations, you can hop on an electric scooter. These scooters have appeared across America over the past year or so and have proved handy when individuals need to get from point A to point B quickly. Walk to Work Day offers a perfect chance to change up your routine for a more active lifestyle. Let this holiday be the first step in many that will come!

A Start to a More Active Life

Everyone knows that walking is healthy for us, but not very many people have the chance to stretch their legs. With a busy schedule, you might not have the luxury to get up earlier and get a quick brisk walk in. But that doesn’t mean routines can’t be changed. Walk to Work Day is an unofficial holiday that encourages people to walk more in their daily lives. Finding the time to walk for 30 minutes a day can help you lose weight, reduce the chance of heart disease and diabetes, and improve emotional and mental health. A Little History Walk to Work Day takes place on the first Friday of April every year and has been celebrated since 2004. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services promoted the holiday with enthusiasm as a way to counter the alarming rise in obesity and health issues throughout the country. Since its debut, Walk to Work Day has been picked up by
