Other Greek students have said it should so be translated. If it had been done so in the first place there would not have been any place for the 7th day teaching. K. L. Christ’s Body The humanity of Christ was prepared of the Father, as well as called into eNj, istence by the Spirit and assumed by . Himself. 1. Prepared in His Incarnation. Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou -wouldest not, but a .body hast thou prepared me (Heb. 10:5). sZif Offered in Sacrifice.. . By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all (Heb. 10:10). 3. Buried in Dehth. Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the :i,),:spices, as the manner of the Jews is to. bury (John 19:40). 4. Handled in Resurrection .- Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself : handle me, and see ; for a spirit hath not flesh and botieS, as ye see me have (Luke 24:39). .5, Glorified in Ascension. Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body-. . . . ' (Phil. 3:21), 6, Discerned in Communion. . For he that eateth and drinketh un­ worthily, eateth and drinketh damna­ tion to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body (1 Cor. 11:29). 7. Manifested in Glory. . . this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heayen, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven (Acts 1:11). Titles of Deity in the Old Testament These various titles -suggest different aspects of God’s character in relation to His creatures. They do not represent different gods or “tribal deities,” as higher critics assert. 1. Eiohim, translated “God’r(çused of God as Creator. 2. Jehovah, translated “LORD”—God in relation to man, the Unchangeable One (Gen. 21:33). 3. El-God, the Omnipotent. 4. Eloah —God who is to be worshipped . (Dent. 32:15, 17). ' 5. Elyon —the Most High God (Gen. 14:18). 6. Shaddai —the All-Bountiful One (Gen. 17:1). 7. Adon, translated “L o r d”—meaning Master or Ruler. (There are various combinations of the above, bearing their special significance in every place.) “Jehovah” or “Lord” is Deity especially as the Friend and Companion of man. The name of Jehovah is combined with ten other words, forming the “Jehovah titles.” 1. Jehovah Jireh (Gen. 22:14)—“The Lord will provide.” 2. Jehovah R o p h e k a (Ex. 15 :26)— “The Lord that healeth.” , 3. Jehovah Nissi ( Ex. 17:15)—“The Lord, my Banner.”

In Leviticus, chapter 23, where the ob­ servance of the-Feast of Weeks (Pente­ costal) is prescribed, the- offering of the Wave-sheaf, and the First-fruits (which are understood to typify, respectively, Christ’s Resurrection, the first from the dead, and the first harvest of the Church, the adding of the three thousand) was to* be made “on the morrow after the Sabbath" — the. eighth day. Is not this both a prophecy and a com­ mand for the inauguration of the change that has been so universally observed since the consummation of the Divine Event, of which the Jewish Feast was so eloquent a symbol?: Does it not make the continued observance of the seventh day all the more a positive refusal of grace, and defiant rejection of the Atone­ ment that was confirmed by the Resurrec­ tion ? As the Jewish ritual was altogether em­ blematic of Christ’s office on earth, a reverent study of it might have prevented the Seventh Day Error. — o — More About the Sabbath . (F rom M. A. D.) In connection’ with the article in the July number on pagò 432, “Where Did We Get the Lord’s Day?” by K. L. B., I would like to call your attention to the Greek which in some way most transla­ tors Seemed to overlook. In the 16th chapter of Mark, Verse 1, the words, " When the Sabbath was past."' This is, of course, referring to the,7th-day Sab­ bath. But if you will note the Greek in verse 2, you will .find the same word translated “the first day o f the week.” Whether a Greek student, or- not, you will see that it is the same word, only with a plural ending. Literally, it is' "First Sabbaths” ; or, to make good English, “First of thè Sabbaths." This is the way, some have translated it. Then again in the 9th verse we have the same word again. Then you will note that the word “first” in verse 2 and verse 9 are not the same. In verse . 2 the Greek word “first” means first in regard to timet\ But ih verse 9 the Greek word, “first" is first in regard to importance, making, the first Sabbath of more iniportance thân any other Sab­ bath. We have wondered why more Greek students do not see this. We have six translations of the New Testament besides the King James, and all but one translate it “first day of the week:” Rev. A. S. Worrell, who Was pro­ fessor of Greek at the Baptist Seminary at Louisville, Kentucky, made a transla­ tion of the New List, that came out in 1904, when he translates it “first day of thé week,” but in the second and revised edition he translates it “first of the Sab­ baths.”
