leader, of boys who has ¿one me more good than I prob ably know right now. “Third, I have had practice in memorizing, and I have found that I can learn verses better than I ex pected, and I got a good reward for learning them. “Last of all-—the pleasures I have had since I joined the Club. The one I liked best was talking over the radio, and next, the time we went to Brookside Park, and I enjoyed the banquet very much, too.” ate ate Owe No Man “Owe no man anything hut to love one another ” (Rom. 13:8). A PRIMARY application of this precept is to money- debts. A Christian should live w ithin his means. A young man presented his sweetheart with a beau tiful bouquet. As she opened the package she exclaimed: “Oh, look! There’s some dew on them.” The young man blushed and explained that he intended to pay for them tomorrow. It is too often true that Christian men are known by their, mortgages rather than by their deeds.^ “Withhold not from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it” (Prov. 3 :27). A Christian should certainly have a thought for the interests of a creditor. Protracted illness or want of work may put the most honorable in embarrassing circumstances, but even in such a case, a Christian should not dodge a creditor, but ex plain the situation and do his very best to live within his means. A Real Bethel for Lyceum—Eteri Girls T HE sixth annual Lyceum-Eteri Girls’ Conference was held at Camp Bethel, San Dimas Canyon. Camp Bethel is a new conference grounds, just started this year, and the Lyceum- Eteri group had the joy and honor of initiating it. The dedica tion service held the first day of the conference, was impressive, —the Camp was dedicated and set apart for religious conferences, The camp itself is a beautiful spot, about thirty miles east of Los Angeles, and not' far from the citrus belt, where several of the Eteri Clubs are situated. Large shade trees,:?numerous comfortable hammocks, snug, comfortable cabins and picturesque scenery all combined to make the place restful and attractive. The clubs were fortunate-this year in having a fine group of special speakers besides the regular Eteri teachers. Our missionary program was especially helpful. Many of the Lyceum-Eteri girls who have gone to mission fields happened to be home on furlough at conference time, and each brought a fine message. Besides their own returned missionaries, Rev. Oswald Smith, pastor of the Gospel Tabernacle of Los Angeles ; Rev. John A. Hubbard, of the Bible.Institute : Mrs. Thomas, of Immanuel Presbyterian Church, of Los Angeles,?? and Mr. Chester Rutledge, of Hunan Bible Institute, all brought in spiring messages. Mrs. Norton Johnson and Miss Elizabeth Merritt gave the Bibie study messages daily. Dr. Harry Rim- mer, the scientist, gave a stirring talk at a banquet. One part of our conférence long to be remembered was the twilight services, held in Say-So Circle each evening. A big stone fireplace stands in the circle, and the girls gathered around this for the twilight messages and testimony meetings, thus the significance of the name “Say-So Circle.” “Let the redeemed of the Lord SA Y SO.” These meetings were entirely informal, and the message was given each evening by Mjss Scott, head of the Lyceum-Eteri Clubs. Many girls found their voices in testimony who had always thought they could never speak for Christ. Many lives were surrendered there, and “Say-So Circle” will always, for Lyceum-Eteri, be an important spot in geography. —o— t We’ll Let Them Speak for Themselves O UR readers have often read accounts of the Nuntius Clubs carried on among boys by our Institute worker, Rev. Harry MacArthur, This month we are going to let our readers have a glimpse of some of the letters that come from junior boys who have been so helped through these clubs that they have written to Mr. MacArthur. Here is one who says : “I am twelve years old. I belong to the NUNTIUS of MONETA. I am writing a story on how the NUN TIUS has helped me. “In the NUNTIUS CLUB of Moneta is where I learned to know my Saviour, ‘The Lord.’ “The Lord helps me in every way. He, has answered my prayer. He has forgiven my old sins. I gave my heart to the Lord in the NUNTIUS, I joined the church 1 for the Lord, and I am living safer every day for the Lord who died for us on the Cross. “I go to the NUNTIUS every Tuesday and only missed twice in the whole term. I try in every way to live for the Lord, and I will. (Signed) “O rval F itch ” Then read this one from Edward Olney: “The NUNTIUS has done a great many things for me but I will only name four of the most important ones right now. “First, it has made me acquainted with the most famous BOOK in the world ; I never read the Bible be- fore I joined the NUNTIUS CLUB. “Second, it has made me acquainted with a good
