It was a great pleasure to welcome new OA diners Professor Dick Clements MBE (59-66), Nigel Massey (52-60), Nicholas Ridge (63-68) and Harsh Sharma (66-68). Afterwards, over port and coffee in Bow House, old acquaintances were renewed and experiences of yesteryear shared. Once again the Great Hall was full almost to bursting point as the Club’s Annual Dinner attracted another enthusiastic crowd. Among the groups occupying individual tables were the Alleynian Sailing Society (in fact, two tables), the OA Boat Club, the OA Football Club, the OA Golf Society, the OA Lodge, form JC 1953-54 (together with their form master, John Welch), 1970s vintage leavers drawn in by James Thornton (67-75) and John Murray (70-78), late 1980s/ early 1990s leavers drawn in by Syd Martin (83-90), and members of the class of 2000. It was a delight to have Dennis Knight MBE (33-39) in attendance, who joined the College when Walter Booth was Master.
