The Jack Redshaw Scholarships are available to all the sons, daughters and grandchildren of Local 793 members who are in good standing at the time of selection of the awards. The award is named in honour of the late Jack Redshaw, who was a Local 793 member for 42 years. He was a business representative for 20 years and also served as labour relations manager and recording-corresponding secretary of the Union. CANADIAN CONFERENCE BURSARY DEADLINE: AUGUST 1 The Canadian Conference of the International Union of Operating Engineers is calling for applications for ten (10) bursaries of one thousand ($1,000.00) dollars. These educational bursaries are intended to provide financial assistance to the dependents of IUOE members. The bursary recipient must be entering the first year or subsequent of a full-time course of study (at least two (2) years in length) leading to a diploma, certificate or degree from any recognized public Canadian college or university. Each bursary will be payable at the commencement of the first or subsequent term of the student’s year of at least a two (2) year program. CLICK HERE to apply
GPMC | NMC EDUCATIONAL BURSARY DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 30 The GPMC | NMC offers twenty-five (25), two-thousand dollar ($2,000) bursaries to assist the children of members of Canada’s Building Trade Unions with the cost of their post-secondary education. Children must be attending a post-secondary academic institution on a full-time basis. Their parents must be a member of one of Canada’s Construction & Building Trades Unions where their Local Union has within its jurisdiction a General Presidents’ Maintenance Agreement and/or National Maintenance Agreement. PIPE LINE CONTRACTORS ASSOCIATION OF CANADA DEADLINE: TBD The Pipe Line Contractors Association of Canada allocates awards in the fall of each year to a son or daughter of parents or guardians who derive their principal income from pipeline construction. The applicant must provide proof of full-time enrollment in a program leading to a diploma or degree in any field at a recognized Canadian college or university. RAY GOODFELLOW SCHOLARSHIP FUND DEADLINE HAS PASSED The Ray Goodfellow Scholarship Fund is sponsored by the Crane Rental Association of Ontario and International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 793. To be eligible for this scholarship, the applicant must be the son, daughter or grandchild of one of the following: • A Crane Rental Association of Ontario (CRAO) company owner; or • An Employee of a CRAO company; or • An IUOE Local 793 member in good standing who is employed by a company that is an active member of the CRAO that works in the crane rental or concrete pump sectors.
