When the Nuts Come Dropping Down When the nuts come dropping down, Dressed in shining robes of brown, When the leaves are gold and red, In the branches overhead, When the song birds disappear, Then we know that autumn’s here. When the earth with gladness rings, When each heart rejoicing sings, For the blessings and the cheer Crowning ev’ry passing year, Let us God the Father praise For these golden autumn days.

3. “ Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.” 4. “My soul doth magnify the Lord.” 5. “ Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.” 6. “ There was no room for them in the inn.” 7. “Launch out into the deep.” II. Read Luke 5:17-26, and then write the story in your notebooks as you remember it, illustrating it by drawings. Special Notice Suggestions for studying the Gospel of John will be sent to all who desire them and who send stamped self-addressed en velopes to this department. A Thanksgiving Greeting Dear Boys and Girls, When you read this page, Thanksgiving Day will be very near. I wonder just where and how you will spend this happy day. Do you know that some boys and girls think o f Thanksgiving Day only as a feast day, and forget its real meaning? You dear readers are not among these, I am sure. The very name “ Thanks-giving” tells us what we should do on that day, doesn’t it? We are to give thanks to some one, and that Some One is God, who has given us all the good things we enjoy. His Word says, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father o f lights” (Jas. 1 :17). Per haps you would like to make a list of some o f the “good gifts” you are thanking Him for today. What a long list you will have! O f course, you will remember to thank Him most o f all for your Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, and then for all the blessings He has brought into your lives. You will thank Him, too, for your homes and your dear parents, for your country and flag, and oh, for so many other things, won’t you? I f you remember to thank and praise Him on Thanksgiving Day, I am sure you will have a happy, glad day, and that is what I am wishing for each o f you o f the Junior “K. B.” family. Lovingly, Y our J unior E ditor .

Thanksgiving Blessed Lord we thank Thee For the lovely flowers Growing in their beauty, Blessed with summer showers. How we love the streamlet, Rippling through the dell; Clear and crystal water, Cool as any well 1 For the blessed sunshine, Warm, and sweet, and bright, Sent by God our Father Who Himself is Light.

Thanksgiving Bible Verses Let us look into our Bibles and see what God’s Word says about the giving of thanks. Who will be the first to find this verse: Ephesians 5:20? How often are we told here to give thanks unto God? “Always," you read. And for how many things ? "A ll things.” “Always . . . and for all things”—if we obeyed God in this, what thankful boys and girls, and grown-ups, too, we would be! Every day would be a thanksgiving day, wouldn’t it ? Now find 1 Thessalonians 5 :18. Who will be the first to read this verse? (Some boys and girls know the names of the books o f the Bible so well that they can easily locate the verses.) Again we are told to give thanks “in every thing.” Do you suppose this means even when things go wrong, and do not please us? Yes, it does, for “everything” is a big word, and includes every single thing. Read again the last part o f the verse. To give thanks in everything is God’s “will . . . concerning you.” Have you ever heard folk say they wanted to do God’s will? Well, here is one way to do God’s will— give thanks for everything. Even boys and girls can please Him in this. Will you begin today to be a thankful Christian ? Philippians 4 :6, 7 also tells us some thing about thanksgiving. Here we are told to be thankful in prayer—“with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” As you pray, don’t for get to be thankful. Thank Him for all He has done for you and all He has given you. Then you may be sure that verse 7 will be true in your lives, as it is in the lives o f those who are much older. Find other verses to put on the Thanksgiving page of your notebook. For the Notebook Read the Gospel o f Luke when you have finished reading the Gospel of John. Locate the following in Luke, and tell who said: 1. “They that are whole need not a phy sician; but they that are sick.” 2. “Wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?”

How to Join the K .Y .B . Club T O become a member of tke Know Your Bible Club, read through the Gospel according to John. You may read this from your own Bible or from a Gospel of John which will be sent upon request. When the Gospel has been satisfactorily read, and a statement sent to this effect, signed by parent or Sunday- school teacher, a K. Y. B. C. pin will be sent. When Sunday-school classes or clubs order a quantity of Gospels or pins exceeding the number of ten, we have thought they might like to contribute something to ward the supply of the same, as the Lord directs. The cost of the Gospels, including the cost of postage and mailing, is about five cents; of the pins, without post age, two cents. However, no one is to do without a Gospel or pin because of lack of money. Ad dress: Junior Dept, o f THE KING’S BUSINESS, 558 So. Hope Street, Los Angeles, California.
