CHRISTIAN LIVING

Whatever you think, both in joy and in woe, Think nothing you would not want Jesus to know. Whatever you say in a whisper or clear, Say nothing you would not want Jesus to hear. Whatever you sing in the midst of your glee, Sing nothing God’s listening ear would displease. Whatever you write with haste or with heed, Write nothing you would not want Jesus to read. Whatever you read, though the page may allure, Read nothing, unless you are perfectly sure Consternation would not be seen in your look, If Christ should say, solemnly, “ Show me that book.” Wherever you go, never go where you would fear God’s question being asked you, “What doest thou here?” _____________________________

D r . C h a r l e s H u r l h u r t once made the statement that God had called enough men in every genera tion to evangelize the world in that generation. If that is the case, then there are many, many spiritual mis fits in the world — Christians who are in wrong places. Is it not true? The churches are full of people who, at one time or another, felt the call to some special service for Christ. At the time they thought the cost too great—their parents or friends “ pooh, poohed” it—and they rebelled. Now they have lived, many of them, to count the cost of not obeying the voice of God. The greatest risk is not abandoning ourselves to God. It is •absolutely impossible to be happy anywhere but in the center of God’s absolute will. To sidetrack His purpose for our lives is to bring sure chastisement upon ourselves. He who gave us life is best able to control our lives. He knows best in what place and at what time we should serve. There are many Jonahs — those dis tinctly called of God who don’t re spond. They “ rise up to flee.” God opens a door and they climb out a window. Like Jonah, they must “ pay the fare thereof.” Follow the Spirit’s leading and He will pay the fare — “ No good thing will He withhold.” He will give strength for every task; He will give perfect confidence and happiness under all circumstances when we are in His will. “He shall supply ALL your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Africa, China, are just as near to heaven as America. Christian — are you called of God to stay where you are at the present time? Is the seal of God’s approval on your life where you are? God is call ing loudly for “ laborers for the har vest.” Never was there such need for workers. W ill you trust God to lead your life?
