GOOD LISTENING. . .FOR ALL OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

BIOLA RADIO STATION INCREASES POWER AND COVERAGE

K'BBI, 'Biola’s powerful FM radio outlet for Los Angeles has begun operation from Mt. Wilson with in creased power from 20,000 watts to 34,000 watts from Mt. Wilson’s high elevation will increase the signal cov erage of the station by more than five times geographically and add some 2,000,000 potential listeners to the already large and loyal audience. Featuring the “ Sound of Inspiration” 18 hours daily, RBB'I’s programming includes well-known nationally re leased Evangelical Broadcasts such as Back to The Bible, The Morning Chapel Hour and The Hour of Deci sion. In addition, more than 11 hours of high quality Sacred, Classical, and Semi-Classical music are included in the daily broadcast schedule. The most comprehensive news coverage of fered by any Southern California commercial FM-only station includes headline news, summaries, and three fifteen minute commentaries daily. Children’s programs, youth broad casts, discussion programs, education al and public service broadcasts also are included in the “ Sound of In spiration.” The Mt. Wilson installation in cludes a new Gates Transmitter and Mobley antenna. Because of “ line of sight” FM transmission, the station’s new location, which took more than four years of negotiations and hear ings before the FCC, “will insure cov erage from the Desert to the Sea, and from Bakersfield and Santa Bar bara on the North to Escondido on the South,” according to KBBI’s Gen eral Manager, Thomas E. Steele. Dr. Kenneth D. Carlson, Oakland, California has been appointed assis tant professor of Christian Education for Biola College. Dr. Carlson, of the Baptist denomi nation, is married and has four chil dren. He received his bachelor of arts and bachelor of science degrees from the University of Minnesota. Later he was graduated from Bethel Sem inary in St. Paul with a bachelor of divinity degree. He received his doc tor of religious education from South western Seminary in Fort Worth. He served as a pilot with the Naval Air Corp for three years and was minister of education at the Elim Baptist Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota ánd the Melrose Baptist Church in Oakland, California; serving four years in each place.
