T he B ible is like unto a magnificent palace constructed of precious Oriental stone, comprising 66 stately chambers. Each one -of these chambers is different from its fellows and is perfect in its individual beauty. Let us then explore this lovely place. In the book of Genesis we enter the grand Vestibule where we are im mediately introduced to the records of the mighty work of GOD in crea tion. This Vestibule gives access to the Law Courts, passing through which we come to the Picture Gal lery of the historical books. Here we find hung upon the walls, scenes of battles, heroic deeds, and portraits of valiant men of God. Beyond the pic ture gallery we find the Philosopher’s Chamber — the book of Job. Passing through which we enter the Music Room—the book of Psalms. Here we linger, thrilled by the grandest har monies that ever fell on human ears. Then we come to the Business Office —the book of Proverbs, in the very center of which stands the motto, “ Righteousness exalteth a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” Leav ing the Business Office, we pass into the Research Department—Ecclesias tes, and thence into the Conservatory —the Song of Solomon, where greet
us the fragrant aroma of choicest fruits and flowers and the sweet sing ing of birds. We then reach the Ob servatory where the Prophets with their powerful telescopes are looking for the appearing of the “ Bright and Morning Star,” prior to the dawning of the “ Sun of Righteousnes.” Cross ing the courtyard, we come to the Audience Chamber of the Kings— the Gospels, where we find four life like portraits of the King Himself, revealing the perfections of His in finite beauty. Next we enter the Workroom of the Holy Spirit—the Acts of the Apostles, and beyond that the Correspondence Room—the Epis tles, where we see Paul and #Peter, Jude, James and John, busy at their tables under the personal direction of the Holy Spirit of Truth. Finally we enter the Throne Room—the book of Revelation, where we are enrapt by the mighty volume of adorations and praises which -are ever addressed to the enthroned KING, and which fills the vast Chambers, while in the adja cent Galleries and Judgment Hall there are portrayed solemn scenes of Judgment and wondrous scenes of glory associated with the coming manifestation of the Son of GOD, as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
The Bible: More Precious
Than Gold
Salvation in Hollywood (cont.) Christ lives today—He is Christianity. Christianity is the only faith that offers eternal life and the forgiveness of sins. Christianity is not a religion, it’s a way of life. And that’s what I needed! Quite frankly, I was plain sick and tired of the phony and superficial living in Hollywood. It really wasn’t Show Biz that was “ bugging” me. It was myself! We can’t call the entertainment profession sinful. How can any business be sinful? If anything is sinful, it’s the people. I was just that and very unhappy. I was ignoring the abundant life Christ promised us when he said, “ I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). This I wanted! Sin is a hardly-used word today. People, especially youth, are seemingly embarrassed to use it. But whether we use the word or not doesn’t alter the truth — we’re ALL sinners. I recognized this and confessed to Christ that night in my cabin. In fact, I did more than just confess my sip and believe Jesus Christ was my Lord and Saviour. I accepted Him into my heart and my life. I felt awkward about my decision, because this was some thing really different in my life. But I knew God was not fooling, and neither was I. I wanted Him because I needed Him. This was real! I knew I now had purpose in my life. I knew I wouldn’t have to waste my days and nights standing in the unemployment line, screaming at my agent, hanging around after-hours niteries or dragging up and down Sunset Strip. “As many as received him. to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name” (John 1:12). I was now born into the family of Christ. Many people say they didn’t give up a thing in ac cepting the Lord. Often this is true. But I gave up a lot! I gave up heartburn, heartache and possible heart attack, ulcers, worries, sleepless nights, “ blowing my stack,” and
a few thousand other problems. All of that is past now, for when we possess Christ we possess a new nature. We are assured of that by the words of the Apostle Paul that “ if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17). Most people jump on the Revival Bandwagon, but few will get off to push it. A revival must first start within ourselves. W ill you let the Lord start it? W ill you take Him at His word? Please don’t get materially comfortable before you become spiritually stable. Instead, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God . . . and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33). Let’s be honest with ourselves! When we’re with our gang we think we’re on top. You know, “ hot stuff.” But in the quietness of our room at night we know all too well we have more needs, problems and burdens than we even care to admit to ourselves. Our Lord said, “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and l will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). Won’t you now bring those needs to Him? Won’t you now ask Christ into your heart? Don’t be concerned with what your buddies will think! Your friends can’t get you into Heaven; only God can do that. This moment is serious and vital. And even if you feel strange about it, don’t let that prevent you from making this lasting decision to become a child of God. Christ understands! He knew my heart! And He knows yours! If we’re sincere, so is He! He doesn’t lie to us. He’ll open up a real abundant life for you on earth, with purpose! Did you accept Him? I certainly hope so — and hope you’ll write and tell me. Maybe I can help your growth in our “ family.” Please write Bob Turnbull, P.O. Box 2390, Hollywood 28, Calif. I won’t wish you good luck! Christians don’t need luck! We just need the Lord! So—God bless! Available in printed form from the American Tract Society, Oradell, New Jersey SI
