I finally fulfilled my dream The biggest wish of my career was to shoot a musical – something I’d never previously had the opportunity to do. And then Bill Condon said that he want me specifically for the movie Kiss of the Spider Woman
What’s your favourite memory from the shoot? - I think my favourite parts are the mu- sical elements, the songs and choreog- raphy. I had a lot of them in the film, as many as 12! There wasn’t a lot of time, in contrast to other musicals that are in production for over a year. We decided to shoot certain scenes in one take, (Fred) Astaire style. Following the rehearsal, we shot a very dynamic scene with six danc- ers just once, and that was that. We live in times when everything can be enhanced with visual effects. This project is, in a way, an aesthetic combination of a film noir and a musical fantasy, and you can really feel the atmosphere of the 1940s... - Director Bill Condon was very specif- ic about how he wanted to make this film. He said “I chose you for this role because I knew you could perform all these numbers without breaks”. I begged him to let us prepare in a little more detail, but he refused, saying that he knew I could do it. And that didn’t just apply to my choreography, but to the whole team. I’d compare the way of working on this project to what we saw in the movie Singin’ in the Rain.

don was also there. The day began very early, with promotions of the new film reaching their peak, and Jen- nifer was obviously excited over hav- ing appeared in her first musical. She showed us a more vulnerable side of her personality and came across as be- ing far from the arrogant diva she’s of- ten unfairly presented as in the U.S. media. The new Kiss of the Spider Wom- an film is the second adaptation of the homonymous book by Argentine writer Manuel Puig. The plot follows Valentin (Diego Luna), a political pris- oner who shares a cell with Luis Moli- na (Tonatiuh), a window dresser con- victed of immorality. The two form an unexpected bond as Molina retells the plot of a Hollywood musical star- ring his favourite diva, Ingrid Luna, the Spider Woman, portrayed by Jen- nifer Lopez...
