I n the documentary Chris Hemsworth: A Road Trip to Remember, which premieres on the National Geograph- ic Channel on 30 th Novem- ber, Hemsworth embarks on a person- al journey through Australia in search of that which is most important: self. Speaking in this interview for Elevate, Hemsworth discusses nature, time, grat- itude and the art of slowing down. What inspired you to embark on this epic journey? - After having spent years on filmsets, surrounded by cameras and constant- ly racing against time, I felt as though I needed a break. I’ve always loved nature, but I realised that I hadn’t really experi- enced it in a long time. I grew up in Aus- tralia, a country that teaches you to re- spect the sea, sun, mountains and silence. I wanted to return to those roots and to rediscover that simplicity that contains no noise - just the rhythm of breathing and the touch of the earth underfoot. How did this experience differ from your previous trips? - When you travel as a movie star, you’re often surrounded by crew, plans and deadlines. And this trip was the total opposite of that. It was just me, a cam- era and the road. There was no script, no preparation. And that was liberating. There were times when – while sitting by the sea or driving through the desert – I got the feeling that everything was slowing down, that I could finally hear the silence. It’s then that you realise the real adventure isn’t in what you see, but in what you feel. The documentary carries the tagline “A Road Trip to Remember”. What scene is etched most deeply in your memory? - There was one moment on the coast of Western Australia, when I found my- self alone on a beach, without a single person in sight. The sun was setting, waves crashing against the rocks, and the wind carried the scent of salt and pine. That scene was almost meditative. I thought how simple the world actu- ally is, and we complicate it ourselves. That was a moment of complete peace – and gratitude.
