Recognizing the surging collector’s and gift market for the series, Bloomsbury published a deluxe edition alongside the trade edition for Prisoner of Azkaban in July 1999, with retrospective deluxe editions of the first two books following that September, thereafter publishing deluxe alongside trade editions for all the following titles. The deluxe editions have remained much sought after by collectors, being larger than their trade counterparts, handsomely cased in full cloth rather than paper boards, with the same cover designs presented as pictorial onlays, and with the titles and Rowling’s facsimile signature blocked in gilt.

Original red, blue, green, purple, dark red, blue, and black cloth and endpapers, spines and front covers lettered in gilt, pictorial onlays on front covers, edges gilt, silk bookmarkers. No dust jackets issued. Final three volumes in original cellophane. Occasional small openings to cellophane, trivial bump to one lower corner of Philosopher’s Stone , all contents clean. London: Bloomsbury, 2005 First edition, signed by the author on a publisher’s promotional bookplate laid down on the front free endpaper. At the time of the publication of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince , Rowling was no longer undertaking book tours, and only did one signing session at the midnight launch event. A number of signed bookplates were made available, however, and this copy is accompanied by a compliments slip from
