According to Colacello, editor and Factory right-hand man, the two deluxe editions of Warhol’s Exposures were issued as gold and silver editions. The gold was limited to 1,000 numbered copies, although of these less than 200 are rumoured to have been printed. This was Warhol’s first photography book. Quarto. Original black morocco, front cover lettered in gilt, black silk endpapers, all edges gilt. 360 black and white photographic illustrations by Warhol. A fine copy. £4,000 [158435]

New York: Interview Enterprises Inc., 1980 signed by warhol First edition, signed by the artist on the front cover next to an image of Diana Vreeland. The cover is designed by Richard Bernstein. Vreeland began her publishing carreer as a columnist for Harpers Bazaar before becoming editor in chief for Vogue . Bernstein painted, sliced, and stenciled celebrity designs which graced the covers of over a decade’s worth of Interview Magazine issues from 1972 into the mid-1980s. Folio. Original wrappers, lettering to front cover in red and green and blue. Full page illustrations throughout. Minor toning to covers otherwise in excellent condition. £1,500 [158539]
The recipient (1893–1957) was appointed by Truman as Chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation from 1945 to 1953. His papers are deposited in the Truman library. The book was published during Truman’s last year in office. As editor, the sympathetic journalist William Hillman was granted unprecedented access to the president’s papers and to Truman himself, who told Hillman that he wanted Americans “to know the Presidency as I have experienced it” and to “know me as I am”. The book appeared at a time when Truman was experiencing low approval ratings and harsh criticism in the press, which it sought to counter. Quarto. Original white and blue cloth, spine and front cover lettered in gilt. With dust jacket. With black and white and colour illustrations throughout. Minimal sunning and rubbing around extremities, near-fine in good jacket, chipped at extremities with tape repair on verso. £1,250 [158163]
