New York: Crown Publishers, 2006 inscribed during his 2008 campaign First edition, first printing, boldly inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, “To Jason – Barack Obama Vote me in ‘08 instead of Nader!”. The recipient was a student at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, who had the book signed while Obama was running for president – Obama’s inscription refers to the independent candidate Ralph Nader, whom Jason was evidently also considering voting for. The Audacity of Hope was the second book written by Obama, following Dreams From My Father in 1995. Topping the bestseller lists, the book helped to further bolster the reputation of the then- Illinois senator, who declared his ultimately-successful candidacy for the presidency a few months after publication.
