ECAUCUS, NJ — DMR Architects recently com- pleted Frontage Labora- tories’ new 36,000 s/f fit-out at 200 Meadowland Parkway in Secaucus. The clinical research facility is the first tenant in this space in three years. According to Marcus &Mil- lichap ’s Medical Office Real Estate Report for the second half of 2014, nationwide, devel- opers completed an estimated eight million s/f of research and development space in 2014, up from approximately six million s/f in 2013. “We are getting a lot of busi- ness from companies look- ing to take older commercial and warehouse space and refit them for new purposes,” said Lloyd Rosenberg, AIA , president and CEO of DMR Architects. “The research and development sector is particu- larly active in needing more space, and we welcome the challenge of bringing new life to older buildings.” DMR has designed or rede- signed spaces for numerous healthcare organizations and medical/research and develop- ment facilities including Hunt- erdon Healthcare Maternity and Newborn Care Center, and numerous projects for Robert

PHILADELPHIA, PA — O’Donnell & Naccarato , the Philadelphia-headquartered consulting structural engineer- ing firm, joined its partners on the Oxford Mills and Icon 1616 project teams in celebrat- ing Preservation Achieve- ment Grand Jury Awards from the Preservation Alli- ance for Greater Philadelphia. O’Donnell &Naccarato provid- ed structural engineering and facade restoration services for both award-winning projects. The Oxford Mills (110-118 West Oxford St., Philadelphia, PA) adaptive reuse project converted the 19th-century, South Kensington neighbor- hood textile mill into afford- able “workforce housing” for teachers. Oxford Mills in- cludes 114 apartment units. Oxford Mills is comprised of several historic, brick and heavy exposed timber-framed buildings on various floor levels totaling approximately 150,000 s/f. A portion of the facility serves as low-rent office space with desk space for rent by the day. Teach for America, who partnered with the de- velopers, relocated its regional headquarters to the com- plex. O’Donnell & Naccarato’s structural engineering role included analysis of the exist- ing structure to determine its ability to support the new pro- gram; repair of deteriorated members; exterior facade re- pairs; design services for new stairs; elevators and entries; loft floor infills; and reinforce- ment for new mechanical equipment.
