Cruise ships come in all shapes and sizes, but Royal Caribbean’s latest addition is off the charts. With a capacity of 6,988 passengers, the fifth Oasis-class ship is scheduled for delivery in March 2022.
There will be eight distinct ‘neighbourhoods’ including: Suite Neighbourhood; plus Central Park; Boardwalk; Pool & Sports Zone; Entertainment Place; Royal Promenade; Vitality Spa & Fitness Centre, not to mention Youth Zone. As if this wasn’t enough, there’s an interactive, underwater-themed kids’ play area complete with slides, climbing walls and games, called Wonder Playscape. Other areas that up the ante include the Vue - a cantilevered pool bar; plus Royal Caribbean favourites such as the Ultimate Abyss - the tallest slide at sea. Other attractions that are sure to keep kids amused are: the FlowRider surf simulator; twin rock-climbing walls; nine-deck-high, 25-metre zip-line; ice skating rink; open-air AquaTheater for jaw-dropping, high-diving aquatic performances; as well as basketball and volleyball courts plus mini-golf. There’s a cabin for everyone on this family- friendly ship, whether it’s a minimum grade inside stateroom or the delights of one of the sumptuous Royal Suites located on the exclusive, elevated Suite Sun Deck. Families can book two cabins of the same type with an interior connecting door to create more space and easy access for a large family wanting to be together. Another savvy
option is booking a cabin with a balcony for mum and dad, and put the kids across the corridor in a less expensive inside cabin. Royal Caribbean is renowned for its supervised children’s programmes for 3 to 17 year-olds. The Adventure Ocean programme separates kids into five groups: Aquanauts for ages 3 to 5; Explorers for ages 6 to 8; Voyagers for ages 9 to 11; and two teen groups for ages 12 to 14 and 15 to 17. Each group has its own space and dedicated activities. The best part is that from May until October 2022, Wonder of the Seas will be operating a summer- long series of round-trip, 7-night Mediterranean cruises from both Barcelona and Civitavecchia (the port of Rome). 7 night Wonder of the Western Mediterranean cruise on board Wonder of the Seas. Flying from regional airports on 23rd October 2022, sailing with Royal Caribbean. Central Park Balcony from £4,789 per family of three.
