ArtHouse Jersey at Capital House

This ground floor, multipurpose arts space in a brutalist building hosts visual arts, dance, music, drama, film, and poetry. Bouley Bay Dive Centre

Learn to scuba dive with local experts, unlocking a new world. Enjoy snorkelling courses, boat trips, yoga and stand–up paddleboarding. The Dive Centre’s boat is available for dive trips, snorkelling trips and sightseeing, with charters available for families or groups. Cineworld

Cineworld Jersey offers level access throughout the venue, plus wheelchair–accessible screens, toilets, hearing loops in the auditoria, and welcome guide dogs. Cineworld holds Audio Described screenings, along with monthly autism–friendly screenings featuring dimmed lights, lowered volume, no adverts/ trailers, open seating and guests can bring their own food. It is advised to contact ahead to organise suitable arrangements for screenings. Access to the exhibitions and the Castle Mount is very limited. Escape Rooms at Jersey War Tunnels

Experience real-life adventure games in Jersey War Tunnels’ amazing Escape Rooms. You will have to find clues, break codes, solve puzzles and find the key to your freedom. Jersey Heritage

Jersey Heritage are a charity dedicated to protecting Jersey’s unique culture and heritage with seven must–visit attractions across the island plus amazing experiences throughout the year. They’ve developed Visual Stories , in conjunction with Autism Jersey to help their visitors explore the castles and museums and understand what to expect before their visit. A variety of the Jersey Heritage sites are wheelchair accessible, with accessible toilets, drop-off points, ‘Take a Break’ sensory bags and more available. View their Accessibility Statement . Jersey Kayak Adventures are fully qualified to cater for clients with special needs, with all equipment provided. Being able to swim is not a prerequisite and the sit-on-top kayaks are very stable and user–friendly. However, guests should be water confident. Jersey Library offers a range of services from borrowing books, lunchtime talks, Eagle Lab facilities, workshops, and exhibitions. The library is accessible through automatic entrance doors and has wide aisles for wheelchair access. The Merchant’s House is a restored Victorian house and presents the life of a prominent Jersey family. Jersey Walk Adventures

Discover Jersey’s intertidal wilderness with Jersey Walk Adventures, offering group tours and private excursions to Seymour and Icho Tower, Jersey’s oyster beds, and Green Island and La Rocque Point for nature spotting and foraging. The team have worked with charities like Mencap, Eyecan, Stroke Association and partner with BeachAbility if mobility is an issue. They can also assist with a signing guide to explore the island’s coastline. Housed within an underground tunnel complex that was built by the Germans using slave labour, this impactful attraction tells the true story of wartime Jersey and the best place to get a true picture of island life during WW2. There are accessible toilets on the ground floor of the Visitor Centre and gift shop. Wheelchairs can be provided for those with mobility problems. All side room displays have enough space for wheelchairs and all displays can be viewed easily. A lift is available to the café and staff will be on hand to assist. Audio guides are also available.

Gerald Durrell’s animal haven, set in a beautiful 32–acre parkland, is the natural place to discover some of the world’s most incredible species. Jersey Zoo is partnered with KultureCity and certified as Sensory Inclusive™ to offer sensory bags to visitors, plus their staff are trained to recognise, understand, and support visitors with sensory differences. Mobility equipment is available for hire, along with accessible toilets throughout the site, hearing loops, accessible parking and drop–off points. Explore the site map and get acquainted with the layout of the zoo before you get there. La Hougue Bie is home to one of Europe’s finest Neolithic passage graves and reconstructed Neolithic Longhouse, a 16th century chapel, a WW2 German command bunker and memorial to the enforced/slave workers imprisoned on the Channel Islands, plus an exhibition space telling the story of the world’s largest Celtic coin hoard that was discovered in Jersey. Please note, access may be difficult for those with limited mobility. They offer a regular programme of guided tours throughout the season for deaf and hard of hearing visitors on a request basis. Jersey’s only vineyard can be found near the regal north coast of the island. This working estate offers full access to the main tour route for visitors using wheelchairs. There is a ramp from the main entrance into the café, with level access from the café into the toilets, event spaces and around the distillery and free parking. There are no steps around the estate, with a combination of well– kept grass and gravel terrain. Friendly dogs on a lead are welcome in their outdoor seating areas, and guide dogs are welcomed throughout.

Les Quennevais Sports Centre offers an extensive range of sports facilities for members and casual sports players. Accessible information includes 11 accessible parking bays, a low–level reception desk, lift access, changing facilities with full ceiling track hoist (bring your own sling), PoolPod access to the main pool and sloped access to the small pool, autism-friendly swimming sessions, evacuation chairs and a ski pad. They are assistance-dog friendly. Let someone else take the wheel and use Jersey’s network of public buses to navigate your way around the island. Jersey’s public transport network makes it easy to explore wherever you please. All their buses are fully accessible for wheelchair users and some mobility scooters. Visit the customer service desk at Liberation Station to check your scooter is suitable for travel. The buses have low floors, easy access ramps and special areas where wheelchairs can be safely secured. Located by the St. Helier harbour, the Maritime Museum is all about seafaring, navigation and the elements. You will also find the Occupation Tapestry Gallery, an award-winning Occupation Tapestry that was woven by islanders to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the liberation. There is full access with ramps, a lift to the second floor with braille control buttons, and two stair lifts to upper levels. Accessible toilet facilities, an audio guide and braille book are available for the Tapestry. A loop system is located in certain areas and information and display tables are at wheelchair level.

Nature Base St. Saviour Operate all year

Nature Base offer sessions that provide the ‘base’ for families in green spaces and woodland, offering a rich multi–sensory environment to help strengthen family connections, enable connections with nature, and support wellbeing. The base is wheelchair–friendly but may have accessibility challenges in wet weather. They can host wheelchair users who want to participate in activities. They offer accessible parking, drop–off points, and toilets. Contact them in advance if you will be using a wheelchair. The Pallott Steam, Motor and General Museum is dedicated to preserving the island’s mechanical heritage. Step back in time and enjoy the vast and varied collection of steam engines, vintage and classic vehicles, agricultural implements, domestic items and much more. Most of the displays are located on ground-floor level adding to its accessibility and there are accessible toilet facilities and ramps. They have several wheelchairs available for visitors, plus there are chairs placed throughout the attraction for resting. First opening its doors in 1966, this all-in shopping and food experience boasts an extensive garden centre, gift shops with luxury goods, clothing, and pet products, along with a quaint tearoom that has become an island institution. There are accessible drop-off points and parking, along with ramped access to the entrance and level access throughout the complex. Accessible toilets can be found on-site, along with wheelchairs or mobility aids that can be provided.

Located at the heart of St. Ouen’s Bay, Roccos have teed up 54 holes of mini golf madness for all abilities. The Botanic Gardens at Samarès Manor

Created in the 1920s, this 14–acre landscape offers stunning scenery with an exotic garden, water and seasonal gardens, a Japanese garden, beehive hubs, kids’ play area, café and more. The majority of the site is accessible to wheelchair users, however some of the pathways and lawns can be tricky to negotiate in wet weather: Samarès means “Salt Marsh”!

Split across three floors, this artistic hub showcases an array of pieces from over 60 local and international artists and hosts a variety of exhibitions annually. BeachAbility is a local charity providing specially designed manual, ballooned wheelchairs for use on the beach and other rough terrain. Available at various locations around the island, including La Braye, St. Brelade’s Bay, Gunsite, Bel Royal, West Park, La Mare and Long Beach Gorey. BeachAbility is for any person who finds that, for whatever reason, they have difficulty walking on the beach. People who have used their beach wheelchairs include: • People with long-term disability from conditions such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s, head injury, motor neurone disease, spinal injury and cerebral palsy. • People with temporary mobility impairment such as those with a leg in plaster. • People who are weakened by medical conditions such as breathing difficulties or cancers. • The elderly, who are not disabled but may be frail and find the beach a challenging environment to walk on. • Those who would like to attend weddings, birthday parties and family gatherings.

The dimensions of the chair must be suitable to accommodate your size. An adult chair has a seat width and depth of 45cm (18 inches) and a child/small adult chair has a seat width and depth of 36cm (14 inches).The maximum weight the adult chair can hold is 25 stone or 158kg. BeachAbility has a friendly team of supporters, one of whom will meet you at the beach location. They will provide a demonstration of the wheelchair and see you safely on your way. The whole process takes no more than 15 minutes. Please note that supporters are unable to help you get into the beach wheelchairs. You will need to be accompanied by an adult helper to assist with transfers and to push the wheelchair.

Healing Waves was created so that any individual, no matter their condition and/or disability, could have a chance in trying water sports in a safe way. Watersports include surfing, paddle boarding and FlowRider sessions. The surfing charity also has a wheelchair adapted surfboard. These watersports are used as a vessel, helping athletes to gain more self–confidence and develop communication skills, whilst providing therapy and respite. Each person is provided with the opportunity to have their own unique and valuable experience.

Healing Waves

Surfing

Healing Waves run both 1:1 and group surf sessions. 1:1 surf sessions are typically held for those who find a group setting overwhelming and require a lower key, bespoke approach. One or two appropriately trained and experienced volunteers are required to facilitate these sessions. Group sessions predominantly take place at the weekend. These happen once or twice each month in the summer between May and October.

FlowRider

Healing Waves’ FlowRider sessions are run during the winter months from October – April at the Merton Aquadome, when the ocean temperatures and conditions are less favourable. Healing Waves run both 1:1 and group FlowRider sessions. Group sessions are typically held every other week on a Saturday or Sunday with 1:1 FlowRider sessions taking place in the week for those who find a group setting overwhelming and who require a lower key and more bespoke approach.

Healing Waves

Adaptive board

Healing Waves has secured both the first and second adaptive surf/paddle boards within the Channel Islands. These boards enable any individual who may have less physical ability e.g., wheelchair users, to access the ocean and participate in surf and paddle activities. Surf sessions are typically run in tandem with two in the water with a team of eight around them. Healing Waves does offer the opportunity to have private sessions if preferred.

Sensory activities

Their Surf Therapy Centre has a dedicated sensory room with bubble tube, vibro acoustic waterbed, interactive projector and lights. On their premises, they also have a garden with everything from a climbing wall and sensory swing to a small selection of herbs, spices, flowers, fruits and vegetables.

The Community Hub at Maison des Landes is a social and meeting space for Jersey’s elderly, people with disabilities, and visitors alike. Located at the newly refurbished Maison des Landes in St. Ouen, it offers the opportunity to socialise, have lunch and enjoy a variety of activities on-site and off-site. The facilities include a 48–seat dining room, a lounge and orangery, large tranquil gardens, a treatment room and a hydrotherapy pool. Additionally, Hub users and guests can book appointments including massages, hairdressing, nail treatments and visits by the chiropodist. The Hub is open to non–residents who may wish to use the hotel’s facilities for the day. Space at the Hub will be subject to availability and must be pre–booked in advance directly with the hotel. The Community Hub also offers a range of organised activities and experiences, including talks, films and games. Maison des Landes have partnered with local attractions and activity providers to offer a programme of tours and activities for hotel guests which users are welcome to join.

Move More Ability is designed to get islanders and visitors with a disability active and to improve their wellbeing. They have a wide variety of regular activities available – it is a great way to get moving, improve skills and try something new in a friendly and welcoming environment. All the details of their activities and how to register to join in can be found on their website. To take part in any of the Move More Ability activities, please register first by completing the online registration form. Once you have submitted your details, the Move More Jersey team will then be in touch to confirm your booking.

Move More Ability Classes

Fun physical activities aimed at people who need additional support to get moving due to a disability. Currently held outside in Howard Davis Park.

Move More Ability Walks

Accompanied walks along wheelchair and frame friendly surfaces that regularly see participants walking up to 3 miles, with opportunities for a rest!

Move More Boccia

Boccia is a Paralympic sport of control and accuracy played on indoor courts. Balls are propelled towards the target or “jack” ball to score points.

Cycle Without Limits

The outdoor cycle centre at Les Quennevais offers a range of adapted bikes for islanders with disabilities or mobility issues to enjoy cycling safely.

Launched in September 2013, Wetwheels Jersey became the second regional operator for the national disability power boating charity Wetwheels Foundation. The Wetwheels experience is designed to enable every accessible person the chance to experience the excitement of power boating. Wetwheels boats are truly unique by being fully accessible – not just giving you the chance to be a passenger, but also to take the helm as the skipper! Departing from La Collette, you will first head to St. Aubin’s Bay where an alternative view of Elizabeth Castle and St. Aubin’s Fort can be enjoyed. From there, you head around Noirmont Point and into Portlet Bay, moving further along the coast past Ouaisné Bay and into St Brelade’s Bay and Beauport taking in the sights of the wonderful coastline along the way. Wetwheels

Jersey Dolphin Spotting

This trip takes a very similar route to the South Coast Cruise. However, their team keep in touch with the local boating community and will head to wherever dolphins have been last spotted.

Jersey Fishing

Wetwheels mainly fish with feathers for mackerel and have all the equipment needed onboard. Heading just off Noirmont Point you will first try your luck at catching fish here.

Jersey Outer Reefs

On occasion you will venture to Les Ecréhous or Les Minquiers. Trips to the outer reefs take a minimum of four hours and as there are no toilet facilities onboard, they are not suitable for everyone.

Jersey Private Hire

Wetwheels operate approximately 10 private trips a year, in which for a fee you can hire them for either a two-hour trip or an outer reef experience. Maximum 10 passengers including up to three wheelchair users.
