Glossary Carnivore A meat-eating animal that hunts or scavenges other animals for food. Home Range The area in which an animal lives and moves in search of food, shelter, and a mate. Predator An animal that hunts other animals for food. Prey An animal that is hunted by another animal for food. Territory The part of its home range that an animal may defend from other animals of the same type.
