"Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Preedy and their three children have been released from prison in the Philippines. It is good to see in Mr. Preedy’s own handwriting, this note of praise: ‘That we are alive and well . . . is just a contin uous and miraculous evidence of God’s l o v i n g kindness and tender mercy.’ ” Mrs. Preedy was born of missionary parents in China, gradu ated from Biola in ’31, and was known to the Institute family as Roberta Tewksbury. She recently arrived in Los Angeles with her two little girls. Certain difficulties arose which made it necessary for Mr. Preedy to remain in Manila for the present. Prayer is asked that he and their 13-months-old boy may soon be able to join the family, who live in the missionary colony in Glendale, Calif. The European Harvest Field (offi cial organ of the American-European Fellowship) publishes a letter from Tordis Christofferson ’29, in which are mentioned incidents which read like a chapter in a modern Book of the Acts. These silent years have borne testimony to sufferings, persecutions and sorrows of those who have found hiding places in caves, attics and for ests—the torture of mind and body in separations of parents from children, sickness, starvation and death knock ing at many doors, as well as the loss of every earthly possession!' Twice Tordis has been arrested and detained by the Gestapo just because of kind nesses shown to God’s ancient people. Standing alone in a large room sur rounded by these evil men—she heard the still small voice of One saying: “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” (Heb. 13:5). Born To Charles ’42 and Mrs. Trout, Jr., a daughter, Alice Jean, April 15, Clovis, Calif. To Milton ’42 and Mrs. Warkentin (Clara Neufeld ’42), a son, David Mil- ton, May 23, Mexico. With the Lord Three more Biola stud. have laid down their lives as a result of enemy action. Alton H. Ragsdale ’36, and Lt. Glen D. Poole, of El Centro, were killed in the European area. Recent word has come that Lt. Harry Shipcott ’28, lost his life in the Pa cific field of action. Harry’s ship went down with all on board, one officer alone being rescued. Let the Biola families and their friends daily bear to the Throne of Grace the men and women in the service of our country. Pray for these bereaved families that they may experience the comfort that only the Lord can give, and pray also that’ this awful car nage soon shall be brought to a close.
