A glorious day of steeplechase racing!

For Your Safety • Emergency services are located at the top of the hill in the Delaware State Police Command Center. • Disorderly conduct, underage drinking, and use or possession of illegal drugs of any kind will be prosecuted. • Delaware State Police will be notified of any vehicle operated by a driver who appears to be intoxicated. • When crossing the racetrack, follow the directions of the volunteers and Delaware State Police. • Loud music, cooking devices, kegs, tents, canopies, umbrellas, and awnings are prohibited. • In the event of inclement weather, please listen to the public address system for directions. • When entering the grounds, take note of the exit nearest to your parking space. • Unauthorized and commercial vehicles will be towed at the owner’s risk and expense. • Enjoy the races, delight in Winterthur’s grounds, and drive safely! Risk Waiver As with any steeplechase race, there is a risk of serious injury or death if a horse should run loose and into persons or obstacles. Anyone who is unprepared to assume this risk should leave the premises immediately. Photography Notice Upon entering the premises you grant Winterthur and its agents the right to videotape, film, and photograph you, record your voice, and use your likeness in connection with the commercial production, and in the distribution, exhibition, and exploitation thereof. No Drone Zone For the safety of our guests, jockeys, and horses, this event is a NO DRONE ZONE . Any use of unauthorized equipment will result in removal and penalties.

Point-to-Point Recycles! Please help us by recycling your bottles and cans.

Please place all of your glass and plastic bottles and aluminum cans in the yellow recycling bags provided at each tailgate and tie them closed. Leave them in your tailgate area, and they will be picked up at the end of the event. Come Back and Visit! The Henry Francis du Pont Challenge Trophy is named in honor of the founder of Winterthur. A maiden timber race is being substituted for a novice race to be ridden at a distance of three and one-quarter miles over fair hunting country by a lady or gentleman. Purse $25,000. Timber. For Five Year Olds and Upward which have never won two races over timber. Five-year-olds, 160 lbs.; older, 165 lbs. Non-winners over timber, allow 5 lbs. Three Miles and One Quarter over Timber.

The Vicmead Plate In Honor of Louis “Paddy” Neilson III Apprentice Rider Timber–3:00 pm This race commemorates the founding of the Vicmead Hunt Club in May 1920 and is in memory of its four founding members: Mrs. Victor (Betty) du Pont, Mrs. Hollyday (Ellen) Meeds, Mrs. A. Felix (Dick) du Pont, and Mrs. H. Rodney (Bella) Sharp. Purse $15,000. Timber. For Five Year Olds and Upward which have not won a timber or hurdle stakes in 2023- 2024. To be ridden by apprentice riders. 170 lbs. Non-winners of two races over timber, allowed 5 lbs.; of a race, 10 lbs. Riders who have never won a race, allowed 5 lbs. No other rider allowances. Entry fee $150; $150 additional if not scratched on time Wednesday; $150 additional to start. Three Miles and One Quarter over Timber. $5,000 of this purse has been donated by the Temple Gwathmey Steeplechase Foundation, for the promotion of the apprentice rider program.
