GOING–TO–THE–SUN ROAD
50 MILES BEST TIME TO GO: SUMMER Originally built to boost tourism of national parks, this extraordinary road has been doing just that since it was completed in 1932. Spanning 50 miles, it cuts through Montana’s Glacier National Park, weaving through the Rocky Mountains and crossing the Continental Divide at Logan Pass. While the sites are stunning, watch out for blind curves and steep drop-offs. It’s also best to avoid this one during the winter. WEST ENTRANCE TO ST. MARY ENTRANCE OF GLACIER NATIONAL PARK
CAN’T MISS PITSTOP: LOGAN PASS
Located at the Continental Divide, this is the highest point on Going-to-the-Sun Road. It offers stunning views of glaciers and wildflowers, as well as an opportunity to spot mountain goats and bighorn sheep.
