From our base in Agia Marina, we head to the Omalos Upland Plain and the Samaria Gorge, both home to wildflowers, including daphnes, tulips and peonies. We then journey to Heraklion to admire the Old Town’s Venetian walls and the ancient fortress. More wildflowers are to be discovered during a botanical ramble around the Akrotiri Peninsula, before a trip to Chania. Finally, we head to the Minoan cemetery of Armeni, where masses of spring flowers bloom in the beautiful flower-strewn Cretan landscape.
