BROWN RICE PILAF

Ingredients

1 cup brown rice 3 cups water

¼ cup chopped almonds 1 teaspoon dried parsley ½ teaspoon garlic powder ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

1. Place all the ingredients in a rice cooker and cook until the water evaporates, about 30 minutes. 2. Fluff cooked rice with a fork. Notes • This dish goes well with fish and chicken. Add a large green salad to complete the meal. • May be prepared on the stovetop as well but may require more water. • May use other nuts in place of almonds. • May use Italian mixed herbs/seasonings or cilantro in place of dried parsley. • May use minced fresh garlic or onion powder in place of garlic powder.
