Recreation Programs and Public Land Management http://www.saw.usace.army.mil/Missions/Recreation.aspx Te Wilmington District manages 5 lakes and 3 locks and dams as well as the land sur- rounding these facilities for conservation and recreation. Falls Lake Master Plan (2013) http://www.saw.usace.army.mil/Locations/DistrictLakesandDams/FallsLake.aspx Falls Lake includes the dam, approximately 12,400 acres of open water, and approxi- mately 25,600 acres of surrounding land. Tis land includes the Falls Lake State Recreation Area, portions of the Butner-Falls of Neuse Game Land, as well as lands leased to local governments.

Tis program provides fnancial assistance to the DOD for eforts to preserve our natural and cultural heritage. A Legacy project may involve regional ecosystem management ini- tiatives, habitat preservation eforts, archaeological investigations, invasive species control, Native American consultations, and/or monitoring and predicting migratory patterns of birds and animals. Trough partnerships, the program strives to access the knowledge and talents of individuals outside of DOD.
