to think, “Well, it’d be nice to go on a picnic, but it’s just too much trou ble.” Socially he may feel that going out just isn’t worth it. They’d rather stay at home. Wives need to find ways of encouraging their husbands in this respect. The basic problem, as with all temperaments, is self. While it may assert itself in differ ent ways it’s still all self. Mr. Phlegmatic is kind of fearful, as was Abraham who was so fearful that he denied his wife on two occa sions. He could only admit that she was his sister. That wasn’t very im pressive. He, of course, later repent ed and God taught him a lesson. But there is still this fear-prone individ ual today. How thrilling that as far as Abraham is concerned, he believed God and God counted it unto him for righteousness. God changed him just as He changed Moses, Paul, Peter, and desires to do in your life as well. God, the Holy Spirit, is the answer. It’s not tedious or difficult to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Follow this simple procedure. Examine you r heart. If there’s anything in your life that is sinful and that displeases God, then confess it right now. Yield yourself to the Lord. Allow Him to do anything He may desire in and through you. Simply ask to be filled with the Holy Spirit. The Bible says, “If you, being evil, know how to give good things to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them who ask him.” “Ask and ye shall be filled.” What a comfort to drop the tangles of life into God’s hand and leave them there! The only ones among you who will be really happy are those who will have sought and found how to serve. Don’t be too upset with the pessi mists. Just take them for what they are —"seasick” during the entire voyage of life.
