ered to a delicious luncheon buffet in the Ter- race Café. We made our way to our Veranda Suite, where our personal butler offered to unpack our luggage, reviewed our dining res- ervations for the week, and stocked our mini- fridge with our favorite beverages. Throughout our voyage our suite was immaculate, replen- ished at least twice daily with beverages and ice; immediately upon our return to the ship each afternoon, a selection of canapés would magically appear. This supreme level of service is consistent throughout the cruise. Guests are greeted by name, and the atmosphere onboard is congenial with no request too big or too small. Unpacked and settled in, we relaxed on our veranda as Silver Spirit set sail in the late af- ternoon sun; sipping champagne we gazed out at the industrial Florida port, knowing that our view would soon be transformed into magnifi- cent harbors and adventures to follow. Having shaken off the terra firma and with stomachs beginning to growl, we dined al fresco at Hot Rocks, the most casual of the dining options onboard, where guests cook their own steaks and salmon on hot lava rocks tableside, a deli- cious start to a memorable vacation. Our first stop was Cozumel, Mexico, where we explored the ruins of a Mayan settlement before having a cold beer on a pristine white sandy beach. In Belize, we traversed the jungle on a zip-line and savored coconut milk cooked rice while Howler Monkeys danced above our heads. In the Florida Keys, we bicycled from one end of the island to the other, and feasted on fresh fish tacos and key lime pie. Although very different experiences, each of the shore excursions shared a common element: expert planning and outstanding guides. Excursions are rated by physical difficulty so that guests may gauge the level of stamina necessary. Sil- versea Shore Concierge Service can also arrange custom outings, like a day relaxing at a private beachfront home with your own chef, or a thrilling afternoon of kite surfing lessons.

After all of the exciting shore excursions, there is nothing like spending a day at sea, chilling poolside with a cold drink, surrounded by nothing but the azure waters. You will cer- tainly be tempted to indulge your senses at The Spa with a blissful Aroma Stone Therapy mas- sage or a Silversea Facial. Fit in a late afternoon yoga or Pilates class at the state-of-the-art, glass-enclosed Fitness Center. Guest Lectur- ers such as renowned astronauts, geologists, or filmmakers are frequent visitors on Silversea’s voyages. I attended a cooking demo with Chef Steven D’souza, and learned about the medici- nal qualities of various ingredients in Indian cuisine. When I returned to my suite, I was de- lighted to find a reference guide on the subject. Whether you do anything or nothing at all, I guarantee you will come back spoiled. As the sun slowly sets, the evening brings

In 2015 Silversea is offering a total of 276 voy- ages, like the Silver Spirit voyage from Barcelona to Rome, with an overnight in Cannes during the city’s film festival and Grand Prix in May. The Silver Wind will visit Venice during the an- nual Festa del Redentore celebration of fireworks over St. Mark’s Bay. And the Silver Cloud sails on the Thames River, docking near London’s historic Tower Bridge, a thrilling waterway most cruise ships are too large to navigate. For unfor- gettable wilderness adventures, Silversea Expedi- tions explores some of the world’s most remote waters with voyages to Russia’s Far East, across the Bering Sea to the Aleutians and the Alaska and Kenai peninsulas, or Southeast Asia’s Borneo rainforests, to the marine life of Coral Triangle, Indonesia, the Philippines and Western Papua. The newest ship, Silver Galapagos, with just 100 passengers, explores the Galapagos Islands and its pristine isolation.
