The new Springfield, MO location is a full-service commercial truck dealer in Southwest Missouri of- fering parts, service, and sales on new and used commercial trucks and trail- ers. The new facility is built with efficiency and Elite Support in mind. As a premium Western Star dealer, the Springfield, MO location serves both on-highway and vocational market segments. With a large focus of the on- highway market being owner operators, the Springfield, MO has a valuable partner in ARI Legacy Sleepers which specializes large custom sleepers. History of Dealership: Ed Jenkins, the founder of Jenkins Truck Center, started in the trucking busi- ness in the 1930’s by hauling cedar posts from Missouri and Arkansas to Iowa and Nebraska and hauling grain back to Missouri. This was followed eventually by driving for Roadway and later on as an owner/operator for several years. Ed did most of the maintenance and overhaul on his own equipment and attended one of the first schools for diesel engine mechanics. Ed Jenkins opened his own diesel engine maintenance and repair shop in 1956, in Springfield, MO. For 65 years Jenkins Truck Center grew and innovated to the become an Elite Support full-service dealership offering parts, service, and sales for Western Star trucks. Jim and Dan, the second-generation owners and operators of Jenkins Truck Center, opened the new state of the art facility located on I-44 in early 2021. As of August 1st, TAG Truck Center is proud to carry on the ethics and morals of the Jenkins family, offering honest and exceptional experiences for our customers.
