Meet the Resident

Margaret H

Meet our new friend Margaret. Margaret recently joined us at Cumberland View Aged Care. We asked her to share a little about herself. As a child Margaret recalls, with joy, jumping in the back of the car with her father and going rabbiting. This and the many hours she played “Shop” with her best friend Phyllis, where they used Mum’s empty kitchen products and made their own money. Margaret shares the biggest influence in her life has been her

faith and her connection to the Baptist Church community. As for changes in her lifetime – technology is the biggest. It poses many good and some not so good influences especially bullying on younger children. Margaret is assured her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren are fine because they have been raised and guided with kindness by very good people – her children. Kindness, to Margaret, is the most important quality to have and everyone is important no matter who they are - everyone counts. Margaret is very sporty, and her love of the Hawthorn AFL football club is only one aspect of this. Netball has been a huge part of Margaret’s life. When she started the Baptist church Chadstone netball club over 50 years ago Margaret saw a way to inspire young girls to be active, be part of their community and to be part of team. This helped to empower them to achieve their best potential. When she wasn’t running the netball club, coaching the team, or umpiring the games Margaret would volunteer with the Helping Hand association. Margaret is a much-loved member of her community and is sure to share her sunny smile here at Cumberland View too. Since coming to Cumberland View Margaret enjoys the book club, has attended all our music concerts, and shared she is planning on attending our daily exercise class. Please join us in welcoming Margaret our newest Cumberland View friend.
