HongKong Every month, more than 1500 peo ple are treated for a multitude of varying afflictions in the Emmanuel Medical Clinic with a staff of dedi cated workers. Dr. Peter Jenkins, M.D., is associate with the Roberts’ in this important phase of the ministry. While treatment is being given to aid in curing ailments of the body, earnest Bible women seek to present the only cure for the death-dealing

philosophy of communism. Here at the Youth Center, Christian princi- pies of life, and love for Christ, are given. Church conferences are also held in this central rallying point. The future of BIOLA in Hong Kong has but one direction in which to go, and that is forward. Every year, thousands of refugees stream across the bamboo curtain seeking refuge. The area’s population is exploding, and in need of a constant consistent witness for Christ. Earnest prayers are sought concerning the establishment of a Christian day school and nursery for the many hundreds of orphaned children. Free land has been prom ised for this purpose if funds can be secured for the building and main- tainence of the operation. This year, here in America, the children around us have been within hearing distance of the Gospel mes- sage. Would we deny the same privi lege to the boys and girls of Hong Kong? Let us remember the words of our Saviour when He declared, “ Suf- fer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such

One of the workers gives food to boys and girls. BIOLA in Hong Kong is sponsored by The Bible Institute of Los Angeles. “ Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.” Mark 10:14. This is the time of year in America when joy and laughter fill the hearts of boys and girls on whom is lavished an elaborate array of Christmas gifts. For most of the children of Hong Kong, however, there w ill be little hapniness this new year. Since being forced out of China by the communists, the Bible Institute of Los Angeles, Inc., has established an important missionary organization in Hong Kong, last outpost of democracy on the China coast. Directed by Dr. and Mrs. Charles A. Roberts, the work is diversified in an effort to reach every age group with the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Dr. Roberts, a seasoned missionary of the cross, not only superintends the entire work, but also preaches every Sunday in th e E m m a n u e l Church of Hong Kong, a part of the BIOLA ministry. A real need is now being felt, since the building in which the church has been located will soon be tom down by its owners. These needy people of the Orient must not be denied the privilege of hearing the old, old story of Jesus and His love. People in Asia, as well as in every other area of the globe, have an earnest desire to become literate. Here again, BIOLA missionaries are striv ing to capture the minds of the people in Hong Kong with good Gospel lit erature. The BIOLA Fraternity Book- room not only sells the finest of evan gelical publications, but also gives away much material to those who would not otherwise be able to pur chase it.

Hungry, starving children are fed not only life giving rice, but also the eternal life giving Bread of Life. One other area of ministry for BIOLA in Hong Kong is what is known as the Deep Well Youth Cen ter. Built largely with gifts sent from students at the Bible Institute of Los Angeles, Inc., the building has many purposes, not the least of which is to reach the young factory workers who live nearby. “ Get the mind of the youth, and you will capture the coun try’s future,” has been the successful
