an entirely different answer. Do we not have a clear answer as to what it means to be a Christian? We need to be certain about our definition before we try to in fluence others to become Christians. One of your neighbors might say, “ Yes, I am a Christian; I belong to the First Church.”Still another might say, “ Oh, yes, I am aChristian; I believe in God and in the Bible.” Someone else might reply, “ Oh yes, I am a Christian; I keep the Golden Rule.” Do they? Others might make a vague statement; such as, “ I go to church’ occasionally; I do the best I can.” You may possibly know a Mr. Smith who lives a very acceptable, moral, and ethical life and is a very desirable person with whom to associate. But is he a Chris tian? He may be a Christian or he may be a lost sinner, for ethics and morals are not the deciding factors. Well, who is a Christian? Where can we find the answer? In just one place, the Bible, God’s Word. The Bible says, “All have sinned.” Jesus said that repentance and remission of sin should be preached in His name among all the nations. This is what His disciples preached with astounding results. It says further, “ Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12) What then? By faith, we receive Him as Lord and Saviour. Receiving Him is receiving new life, eternal life. Jesus said to Nicodemus, “Ye must be born again.” Nicodemus needed a new life. He needed to be born again by receiving Christ as -his Saviour. Who, then, can become a Christian? Anyone who will receive Christ as his Saviour can become a Christian. How old should he be? I know a splendid Christian woman who received Christ as her Saviour at the age of four. She has had constant Assurance of her salvation and is an enthu siastic witness for her Saviour. If you want to be a witness for Him and to influence others to receive Him as their Saviour, you must be very sure that you, yourself, are a born again Christian. “ But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.” (John 1:12)
