child evangelism, and a score of other forms of personal evangelism. Let's have a few personal questions. First of all, what does the word "Merv" stand for? Actually, my mother named me “Mervin,” and “Mervin” just natural ly became “Merv” in my youth. You can make people say doctor but you can’t make ’em say “Merv,” so I think Merv is in response to an ap preciation of my friends. Why do you always seem to be so happy and smiling? I don’t think the smile on the out side always indicates a light heart, but my jaw is hung this way and consequently, I just look happy. The joy of the Lord is an abundant thing. In my youth I took a favorite verse, “ Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say, rejoice.” And I believe the joy of the Lord is our strength. I’m convinced that it is my business to let the pastors know that though every obstacle is against us, we are not to be defeated. It’s the very blessed hope and belief of things to come that lets us know that whatever we’re doing day by day is worth sing ing about. I think that’s part of the key. What denomination are you? Well, usually in a city-wide cam paign we school our children not to admit or even commit one single

I'm sure you have been the challenge they followed. It's evidently made a tre mendous impact on them. Let’s say it’s because they’ve been so little with their father and so much with their mother. What about your immediate family? Well, I married a girl named Vio let out of the law school of the Uni versity of Minnesota. (I’m teaching her grace.) We have a daughter 21 years of age who within the last few months, has been married to a won derful Christian young man. They live in San Jose. Then we have a son who is in his second year in Wheaton College. He is 19. Then we have our youngest son, 14. He’s a “ perky little turkey,” and we’re very happy with him because of his deep devotion to Jesus Christ. Our children have al ways been found on their knees each morning by their bed. We make no demands of them, but they go through three chapters of the Bible and mem ory verses each day. I don’t know who has challenged their lives, but God has led them in a much more consistent way than I ever knew as a boy. "■Sometimes my most relaxing moments are spent dictating letters to my friends. The Word of God is my source hook for the many letters of personal counselling which are sent out day by day." word about denominational affilia tion. In these cities, the minute I do name my denomination, although I’m proud of it, and thankful to God for it, it sets up a barrier for some. For the K in g ’ s B usiness , however, I’m happy to say that I’m a member of the Eagle Rock Baptist Church, Eagle Rock, California. Dr. Roy Lau- rin is pastor.

"I prize this copy of the Scriptures given to me by a friend. It was carried by a soldier in the Battle of Gettysburg.” has purposed, and it’s evidenced by his life, that God shall have all the glory. Is the Christian gospel advancing or are we being outnumbered by population in creases. Frankly, I believe population is whipping us. Birth and death are outrunning evangelism. That’s why I do not believe mass evangelism is the total story. There’s house-to- house evangelism, radio evangelism,

"W e thank the Lord for the wonderful three children H e has given to us. Our daughter was recently married and now lives in San Jose, our eldest son is going to Wheaton and the younger is at home with us. They all have been such a joy to our hearts.
