COMMUNICATIVE DISORDERS ASSISTANT - O Empathy, compassion, listening skills, and problem solving are all important qualities. Why not showcase these gifts and talents in a career that can leave a lasting impact? This program can prepare you to collaborate with registered Speech-Language Pathologists or Audiologists to provide a wide range of winning intervention approaches for children, adolescents, and adults with varied communication disorders. Courses include fluency and voice disorders to articulation and phonology with the added bonus of two field placements. Career Opportunities: School boards, preschool speech and language programs, hospitals, children’s treatment centres, stroke and brain injury rehabilitation programs, private speech and hearing clinics. COMMUNITY INTEGRATION THROUGH CO-OPERATIVE EDUCATION (CICE) – K, B, C If you wish to further your education and vocational training in a college setting, and identify as having developmental or intellectual disabilities, acquired brain injuries, or other learning difficulties, this program is designed to accommodate your needs. As a student in the program, you’ll be offered individualized support options provided by Learning Specialists such as curriculum modifications, note taking, tutoring, and more. Opportunities are also provided to enhance your theoretical and practical skills in the classroom as well as in valuable field placements.

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION – K, C, O The most formative years are from birth to age 12, and learning methods during this stage of development can affect individuals for a lifetime. Early childhood educators can create positive outcomes for youth toward education. Designing inclusive play-based learning techniques and creating documentation based on academic and behavioural observations can help set the tone for a happy and engaging environment. This program prepares you for a fulfilling career that can support children and their families alike. Note: This program is also offered part-time (online). Career Opportunities: Licensed child care agencies, full-day kindergarten, EarlyON and Family Centres, school-age child care programs, community programs, camps, domestic or international nanny, home child care. HONOURS BACHELOR OF BEHAVIOURAL PSYCHOLOGY - K Be an effective leader in developing and implementing life-changing behavioural interventions and treatment options for clients to build skills and/or reducing challenging behaviours. Learn psychological theory and practice clinical skills (under supervision) with clients in up to three different settings. You'll have the flexibility to enter the workforce after graduation or further your studies in various post-degree programs. Career Opportunities: Work with clients with addictions, autism, intellectual disabilities, and brain injuries, and support child, adolescent, and adult mental health in a variety of settings including employment services, education, corrections/forensics, and long-term care/older adult.

MENTAL WELLNESS AND ADDICTIONS WORKER - B Having the talent and ability to guide someone through a mental health or addiction period can be one of the most fulfilling accomplishments when you see positive and lasting results. Become a frontline professional and deliver expert responses and interventions to help one of the most vulnerable sectors of your community. You’ll hone your critical thinking and problem-solving skills to provide holistic client-centered care. Career Opportunities: Addiction support, case management, community mental health, crisis support, homelessness prevention, Indigenous outreach work, rehabilitation support, residential and housing support, shelter support services, youth and family support, and veteran’s services at community mental health and addictions services, correctional facilities, residential treatment centres, shelter systems, youth and family services, and rehabilitation homes. PRE-SERVICE FIREFIGHTER EDUCATION AND TRAINING – B Perform fire-related duties with confidence. Learn firsthand the skills needed to succeed in this highly rewarding field. Courses like fire dynamics, fire suppression, fire prevention, emergency patient care, and community service will have you career-ready and prepared to enter the exciting fire service industry. As an added bonus, you’ll receive career planning, mock interview sessions, and resume assistance to help you get hired with the team of your choice. Career Opportunities: Ministry of Natural Resources, fire prevention and public education, Canadian Military, airport authority, municipal fire department. Professional firefighting, industrial fire and safety, fire inspection, volunteer fire- fighting, airport firefighter.

SOCIAL SERVICE WORKER – K, C The ability to listen, be patient, and give sound advice are talents that can change lives forever. Make a lasting impact on those who are affected by addiction, mental health issues, poverty, homelessness, and abuse. In this program, you’ll learn job-ready skills in courses like Developmental Psychology, Social Welfare, Intervention Strategies, and more. After graduation, you’ll be equipped to provide quality service to some of the most vulnerable segments of your community. Note: This program is also offered in Fast-Track delivery. Career Opportunities: Child and youth empowerment, crisis informed care, and work supportively with many different populations, such as persons experiencing mental health issues, substance dependence, settlement challenges, poverty, education challenges, homelessness, and abuse and trauma. THERAPEUTIC RECREATION - K Help people with a variety of abilities live their best lives and enjoy the solid benefits that health and recreation have to offer. You'll be equipped with the skills to perform assessments, develop and evaluate programs, and encourage participation in meaningful play that will improve overall wellness. Also, the unique course Small Business Development provides you with essential entrepreneurship skills should you want to open your own practice. Career Opportunities: Health, recreation or human service organizations such as long-term-care facilities, retirement homes, rehabilitation programs, hospitals, hospices, healthcare agencies, mental health and addictions services, schools, and in private practice.
