INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROL ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN - K

Environmental Technician students can learn and work with research scientists on environmental issues because of SLC’s partnership with the St. Lawrence River Institute of Environmental Sciences, located on the Cornwall campus.

Be prepared to enter this new and exciting field in the renewable energy sector. You’ll be equipped with the skills to size and design solar photovoltaic, solar thermal, and other sustainable energy systems. Learn to audit energy use in commercial and residential buildings and become a leader in creating solutions to reduce financial and environmental costs of energy usage. Best of all, this two-year program can serve as a foundation to pursue other diplomas or propel you directly into your chosen career. Career Opportunities: Energy auditing/efficiency – residential and commercial, high-performance new construction – energy analysis, photovoltaic (solar) systems operations and maintenance, photovoltaic (solar) systems design, energy auditor, energy manager.

Concerned about robots and machines taking your job? Learn to control and maintain those machines. Design, maintain, and improve a number of different manufacturing systems and equipment across many sectors. Enjoy working with equipment found in the industry in this extremely hands-on, practical two-year program with a 2:1 ratio of lab hours to theory hours in core subjects. Best of all, this continuously evolving field has graduates reporting very high rates of on-the- job satisfaction. INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY - K Building on knowledge gained from the two years common to the Instrumentation and Control Engineering Technician program, this program offers a third year to deepen your skill and expertise in designing, maintaining, and improving manufacturing systems and equipment. You'll gain advanced knowledge of control systems, programming, and technical project planning, as well as complete a capstone project and work placement. Career Opportunities: Graduates of the two and three-year programs work with smart building automation systems and in hospital simulation labs, aeronautical simulation labs, nuclear facilities, water and wastewater treatment plants, automation – anywhere there is a need for human- computer interaction, process plants, municipal utilities, aerospace and rail. WIND TURBINE TECHNICIAN – K Are you seeing green? With sustainability, that is. Join the ranks of one of the fastest-growing green economy jobs in the industry. Take your learning to new heights as you gain in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in electrical and mechanical aspects of wind turbines. You’ll learn fibreglass repair techniques, electrical theory, safety training, and more. Best of all, you’ll meet industry professionals on campus and on experiential learning trips to wind farms across the region.

ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNICIAN - C Be equipped to join this career path with jobs that are positively impacting the green economy. From courses in environmental assessment, water and air quality, occupational health and safety, and environmental assessment, this program will prepare you to contribute to the environmental sector with skills and confidence. Benefit from unique field courses and a four-week, 160-hour work placement. Note: This program is also offered in Fast-Track delivery.

GAME PROGRAMMING - C Get your game on with this exciting program that will introduce you to the fundamentals of game concepts. Learn skills in computer programming, scripting lan- guages, web development, artificial intelligence (AI), and database storage techniques. Game programming is currently one of the fastest- growing job markets in the world, and qualified programmers are in high demand. With the skills to produce code for a variety of technology devices, you'll have the potential to establish yourself as a leader in the industry. Career Opportunities: Generalist programmer, audio programmer, build/ pipeline engineer, database programmer, online/ network programmer, front end developer, graphics programmer, or tools programmer in game studios in Canada and around the world.

Career Opportunities: Install and conduct scheduled preventative

maintenance on large size wind turbines as a member of a maintenance team, and inspect, diagnose, and repair turbines to ensure their safe operation.
