♦ Lifting Students Up: The State of Student Mental Health and How We Can Help ♦ Fostering Psychological Safety in the Workplaces ♦ We Are Not The Same: Elevating NPHC on Your Campus A major responsibility of the Chapter Advisors’ Training Cluster members’ attendance at AFA 2022 Annual Meeting was that of meeting with representatives from colleges and universities from respective provinces to discuss issues and/or concerns regarding the undergraduate chapters on their cam- puses. These meetings are designed to bridge any gap between the undergraduate chapters and the Greek Life staff so as to ensure a collaborative and cohesive working relationship. Equally, a major objective of attending AFA was to develop a cooperative relation between the Divine Nine and AFA is the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC). To that end, repre- sentatives from NPHC attended AFA and convened a meeting to meet with Greek Affairs Professionals from college universi- ties. The meeting served as an awesome platform for college and university representatives to ask questions regarding direct contact with the leadership of the national organizations and make recommendations relative to how to enhance communi- cation between institutions and National Greek organizations. One of the most significant, informative, and rewarding occurrence at the 2022 AFA Annual Meeting was that of the Chapter Advisors’ Training Cluster annual workshop. Brother

Alvin L. Barrington, National Advisors’ Chairman convened the Cluster’s 2022 meeting with a warm welcome to all Province Advisor Chairmen and members of IHQ’s Leader- ship Team, and brothers from the Eastern Province. Equally, Brother Barrington thanked Brother Charles E. Exum, Jr., Eastern Province Polemarch, Brother Warren E. Green, Eastern Province Advisor Chairman, and the brothers of the Eastern Province Alumni Chapter for the hospitality and fel- lowship shown by the Eastern Province, which was followed by greetings from Brother Charles E. Exum, Jr., Polemarch. Brother Shelton thanked the Advisors for a job well done and that he appreciates all they do. So much so, that he compared the Advisors to the functioning of an athletic coach and director. They have to prepare for the game, which is what Advisors have to do when it come to the responsibilities that are before them relative advising and mentoring the members of our undergraduate chapters, which is very important. Advi- sors being knowledgeable and well informed as to their duties and responsibilities is critical for the number one question that typically comes up in a deposition, which is what did the advisor(s) do? Essential to the Cluster’s Workshop were keynote speak- ers from the International Headquarters Leadership Team who addressed and shared information on topics that were very helpful, enlighten, and informative. The topics addressed included the Grand Polemarch’s Charge, A Conversation with Chapter Advisors given by Jimmy McMikle, Senior Grand Vice Polemarch, International Headquarters Updates by John F. Burrell, Executive Director, and Ryan Tucker, Deputy Ex- ecutive Director, Undergraduate Initiatives by Trenton Nettles, Director of Undergraduate and University Relations, and Risk Management by Jason Hall, Director of Risk Preven- tion and Education Members of the Chapter Advisors’ Training Cluster were presenters at the Chapter Advisors’ Training Cluster Work- shop and addressed the Chapter Advisor’s Manual by Dr. John Cade, Chairman, SCP Chapter Advisors; Chapter Advisor’s Training Modules by Calin L Smith, Jr., UG Reporting Coor- dinator; Generation Z by Darryl McGee, Vice Chairman and the AFA by Dr Kevin Bailey, Board of Directors. The Chapter Advisor’s Training Cluster severs as a holistic approach to encouraging life-long learning, active involvement in and focus on continuous and extensive teaching, train- ing, and learning to ensure that all Undergraduate Chapter Advisors are equipped with the necessary tools required for carrying out assigned duties, while at the same time, working cohesively and collaboratively with undergraduate chapters, Grand Chapter, Provinces, and colleges/universities. To that end, the undergraduate advisors and member of the Training Cluster, play an integral and essential role in the sustainability of the fraternity through ensuring certification of all advisors
