The Diamond Group for Jeffries: A Historic Event Held in Honor of the New Democratic Leader Brother Hakeem Jeffries
T he Diamond Group hosted a reception in honor of the new Democratic Party Leader, Brother Hakeem Jeffries on March 9, 2023. The Diamond Group is a national collective of brothers of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. This event was historic in that it was a celebration of Brother Jeffries ascension as the first African Ameri- can to lead a major U.S. political party. This reception was also a fundraiser for Brother Jef- fries where donations reached a historic level for a single event regarding money raised by an all African American group for a Black candidate or elected official. Nupes traveled to Washington, D.C. from throughout the U.S. and abroad to participate and contribute to this celebration. Those in attendance
included Congresswoman Stacey Plaskett, Congress- man (Brother) Troy Carter, and D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser.
Who is the Diamond Group?
As currently constructed, the Diamond Group consists primarily of Nupes from throughout the U.S. and abroad, who are U.S. citizens and eligible to con- tribute financially to U.S. political campaigns. According to its founder John L. Woods Jr., Esq.
