In Hernandez v. Texas, the U.S. Supreme Court rules that Mexican Americans and all other racial groups are entitled to equal pro- tection under the Four- teenth Amendment. — In Brown v. Board of Edu- cation of Topeka, Kans. and in Bolling v. Sharpe, the U.S. Supreme Court rules against the "separate but equal" doctrine, over- turning Plessy v. Ferguson . Among other structural resistance efforts later that year, 23 Black chil- dren are prevented from attending an all-White elementary schools in Montgomery, AL. — Protests by Whites in White Sulphur Springs, WV pushes desegregation compliance back one year. Mississippi abolishes pub- lic schools by amending the state constitution. — Ten members of Kappa Alpha Psi are now in the Eisenhower Administra- tion including: Past Grand Polemarchs J. Ernest Wilkins, Assistant Sec- retary of Labor (among other roles)

Executive Order 10479 signed by President Eisenhower establishes the Government Contract Committee to make recom- mendations on how to ensure nondiscrimination in governmental contracting.
