Tom Druk, a label converting company based in Lodz, Poland, has acquired a new M5X inline flexo press from Bobst. Completion of the sales took place at Labelexpo Europe 2017, where the M5X was demonstrated on the Bobst stand. The machine cho- sen by Tom Druk features 10 colors and is fully equipped with UV LED curing technology and Digi- tal Flexo 3.0. In 2000, Tom Druk was established to produce self-adhesive labels. The company’s capabilities cover an increasingly wide range of label applica- tions produced on three existing Bobst narrow- web inline f lexo and multi-process printing and converting lines. “We take pride in equipping our factory with the latest technology which enables us to increase our turnaround speed, deliver consistent high quality and a sensible reduction of waste” explained Tomasz Wolak, CEO of Tom Druk.We want to make sure we can continuously extend the range of substrates we can handle, as well as the added-value finishing ap- plications that are required today by the high-end label industry, such as laminating, cold stamping, holograms, lacquering, as well as all sorts of die-cut- ting shapes. The partnership with Bobst began with the acquisi- tion of the first 6-color machine about 10 years ago, followed by the installation of a second 8-color and third 10-color presses. The Bobst M5X is the latest optimized configura- tion of the M5 line and fits Druk’s specification for a press able to handle unlimited substrate types; from unsupported film to self-adhesive stock, through to paper, lamitube, alu-foil and light cardboard. TricorBraun Acquires Taipak Packaging company TricorBraun, St. Louis, Mis- souri, has acquired Taipak, a flexible packaging solu- tions provider headquartered in Richmond, British Columbia. “The acquisition of Taipak represents a true mile- stone for TricorBraun: It’s the very first time in our more than 100-year history that we have entered the flexible packaging industry,” said Keith Strope, Execu- tive Chairman of TricorBraun. Strope said that Taipak will be renamed Taipak, A TricorBraun Company. Taipak’s current owners Joey Lin and Charanjit Hayre will continue to manage the business.
