BEHIND THE TILE Desire's founder Kirsten Carabin followed the tiles from Europe to their manufacturing birthplace in Vietnam. Kirsten had no international business experience but bought her passion to preserve and elevate the art of cement tile. First, she convinced the Vietnamese government to allow her to work in their cement tile factory to learn the trade. She worked for months in the factory, alongside her soon to be core team, producing and improving the tiles until the factory was shut down. Next, undeterred Kirsten built a new factory, which shockingly was stolen by the unscrupulous expat factory manager. Determined, with the help of her team of artisans, now friends, led by the beautiful and talented Le Hang, they rebuilt.
