You can imagine why a clothing company like Boston Garter would do their best to feature great haberdashery in their sets! The SGC AUTH grade reflects this card’s upper border. Its phenomenal main image remains an eye-catcher with great appeal, so it will be appreciated by the next lucky owner of this listing. Its population report shows a total of five encap- sulated 1914 singles for Speaker, all with this same AUTH rating. Relatively few Boston Garter singles circulate in our hobby today, making this set little-known outside of advanced col- lections. Its back text implies how clothing stores received these pictures inside cases of garters, which also reduced how many cards reached baseball fans and collectors. It ap- pears Boston Garter knew their high-quality photos would generate real interest from potential customers, so they used them as window displays and marketing materials.
