Marvin Blye takes over as ASF executive director

Shore Up! Inc., a Salisbury, Md.-based non-prot which serves low-income and disadvantaged persons on the Eastern Shore. He has also been an assistant professor of accounting at Wor-Wic Community College in Salisbury, Md. Blye holds a B.S. degree in Accounting from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, and an MBA from Wilmington College in Georgetown, Del. He is working toward a Doctorate of Business Administration (D.B.A.) degree (concentration in accounting) from Walden University in Baltimore. He is also a board member with the Wicomico County Board of Education school district in Salisbury. At A Step Forward, Blye's duties as executive director include “overseeing operations for the agency, and managing its operations, services and its people, and keeping things moving to ensure that we are delivering services to our clients that meet their needs.”

A Step Forward recently appointed a new interim executive director to guide its mission to serve the community. He is Marvin Blye, an experienced executive with a background in nancial and operations management who has spent much of his career working for community-based, non-prot organizations. Blye says he became aware of the opening through his predecessor in the position, former A Step Forward Executive Director Ivan Holloway. “We talked about what the position entailed, and looked at my background to see if I could be an asset to the organization. It seemed like it would be a good t,” Blye says. Most recently, Blye served as nance director for the Jefferson County Committee for Economic Opportunity in Birmingham, Ala. Previously, he was chief nancial ofcer for the Somerset County Public Schools, in Westover, Md. Prior to that, he worked in several administrative and nancial roles for
