Here are the UJ staff and student- athletes who represented South Africa at the 2021 Olympics:

Thirteen UJ sportswomen and men headed off to the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo in July, after Team SA released its selected list of athletes and technical professionals to represent the country in various sporting codes. Students who raised the UJ and South African flags high included Jason van Rooyen, Cheswill Johnson, Kristen Paton and Toni Marks. The students competed in athletics, hockey, long jump, and shotput. The UJ representatives

included four students, one staff, and seven alumni.

“It gives us immense pleasure that our UJ student-athletes and staff as well as alumni have been included in the selected South African squad. At UJ, we pride ourselves on producing talent that contributes to the growth of the South African sports community,” said Ms Nomsa Mahlangu, Senior Director: UJ Sport, after the list was released in May.
