Ulster Hospital in Dundonald is the major acute hospital for the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust, providing a full range of acute services for the population. One of the busiest hospitals in Northern Ireland for unscheduled care, its state-of- the-art emergency department caters for around 90,000 patients per year. Thanks to its proven ability to undertake high-quality healthcare projects in line with ambitious programmes, Dowds Construction was appointed to deliver an innovative solution in response to an urgent need for improved staff facilities.
Commencing in June 2023 with completion in August 2024, the

Dowds Construction brought 40 years of experience in the acute healthcare industry to this project, managing the full fit-out and M&E installation, as well as the ventilation installation in compliance with HTM requirements. Acting as principal contractor, Dowds oversaw the installation, commissioning and testing of all associated MEP services,
company successfully delivered a fit-out of the doctor on call and hot desking area within the newly-constructed Acute Services Block at the hospital.
