Edž, Adam Klejton i Lari Mulen ponovo su u centru svetske muzičke pažnje sa no- vim singlom „Street of Dreams“. Pesma počinje neobičnim, procesova- nim vokalom koji zvuči gotovo ambijen- talno, poput molitve, a zatim se razvija u zvučnu estetiku izgrađenu oko specifič- nih gitarskih tonova, upečatljive bas lini- je i prepoznatljivog ritma. Poseban šarm numeri daje i to što Bono deo refrena pe- va na španskom, šaljući univerzalnu po- NEW CHAPTER U2 brings joy This legendary Irish band is celebrating its 50 th anniversary with the new single Street of Dreams, which heralds the release of its upcoming album A fter a nine-year hiatus from releasing albums with new and original studio material, Bono, The Edge, Adam Clay- ton and Larry Mullen are back in the spotlight of world music with the new single Street of Dreams. The song begins with an unusual vo- cal that sounds almost ambient, like the reciting of a prayer, only to develop into familliar U2 sound aesthetic built around specific guitar tones, a striking bass line and a recognisable rhythm. Providing the track with special charm is the fact that Bono sings part of the chorus in Spanish, delivering a universal message of hope.
there, as was Adam Clayton. No one could have imagined back then that, five decades later, that band of schoolboys would have amassed 15 studio albums, sold more than 175 million records, and earned a place in the R&R Hall of Fame and as many as 22 Grammy awards, which makes them ab- solute record holders among groups. Although the new album’s official title and exact release date are still being kept un- der wraps, Bono recently re- vealed what audiences can ex- pect from the new material. “The album has a very differ-
This great comeback symbolically co- incides with a historic anniversary. That’s because this September marks exactly half a century since then Dublin teenager Lar- ry Mullen posted a simple message on his high school notice board: “Drummer seeks musicians to form band”. It was on 25 th Sep- tember 1976 that this group of young boys gathered in the kitchen of the Mullen fam- ily home. Paul Hewson (Bono) and broth- ers David (The Edge) and Dick Evans were
ent kind of musical mood and narrative, more of a defiantly joyful kind of feel to take on these anxious times, almost a car- nival vibe. We’re going to try and make the light brighter real soon. We can’t al- ways be letting the bad news drown out the good news of just waking up in the morning and being together in the same place“, revealed Bono, adding that the new tracks are more songs of celebration than lamentation.
