FANCY FRANK continued S oon it became the talk of the town. It was an unheard of thing. A man without a gun took Fancy Frank’s gun away from him . . . while all his gang stood by and watched it done. Had they all turned yellow? Anyway, they were all disgraced and Fancy Frank, their leader, was ashamed, and what was even worse, he was very much afraid. He had lost the respect of his men and he knew it. That meant he was through. How to get out of the mess with the most for himself was now his big problem. He was not willing to share his accumulated money and gold tucked away in his safe with his men. They wanted their part and were eager to get out of town but Fancy Frank put them off. They wanted to go right away, that day, but he asked them to wait. He asked them to do this because like the rich young ruler he was greedy, and at the risk of his own life was willing to take a chance to get it all. That night back at Ben Willing’s ranch there was another meeting. The news of what happened in White Horse got around. It was unbelievable and they all marvelled at how God was answering their prayers. They were amazed at the way the battle was being won with out any of them having to fire a gun. It was a miracle! Some of them thought Fancy Frank should be a r r e s t e d and brought to trial. I told them that he

I felt in my heart that He would do it. I got out my Bible and read to them Deuteron omy 32:35, “ To m e belongeth vengeance, and recompense; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste.” After that we had a time of prayer. We first thanked God for all that He had done and then asked Him to finish the job in whatever way would bring about the best solution to the difficult situation at hand. Shortly after midnight the meeting came to a close. The ranchers returned home and the sheriff and I went back to White Horse. H ow little we knew of what had been going on there while we were p r a y i n g . A1 Huffman, Fancy Frank’s right-hand man for a long time, was for the first time in his life really afraid. Along with that he felt that he was entitled to a big share of the money in Fancy Frank’s safe. This he wanted to get and leave town. Of course, the rest of the men who had worked for Fancy Frank got to feeling the same way. They too wanted to get their share. All this spelled trouble. A1 figured on getting to Fancy

They can actually “cut down” trees by chiseling at them with their very sharp teeth in a furrow following the grain of the wood.
